WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: June 20, 2016

Unfinished business for Cena

Money in the Bank managed to shock everyone. The pay-per-view had its fair share of surprises and good matches that made it one of the standout shows of the year. At the same time, it had a lot of future implications as well. Most of the angles that took place in Money in the Bank sets up major storylines on the road to SummerSlam and WWE is going to start building them up one by one from this week’s Raw itself.

And after the impressive climax of Money in the Bank, everyone will be eager to know what happens on Raw. And there is also the possibility that a few of the superstars who are sidelined with injury will return. Here are some of the storylines that WWE needs to address on this week’s Raw.

New paths for the midcard

New challengers coming?

The midcard of the WWE roster needs to be given some new paths after what went down at Money in the Bank. Baron Corbin wrapped up his feud with Dolph Ziggler with a clean win and stretching this further wouldn’t make sense. Similarly, Apollo Crews got a win over Sheamus but Sheamus was seen complaining to the official, indicating in a possible rematch.

New Day retained their tag team titles after a great Fatal 4 Way tag team match. They will need new challengers and as there are a lot of teams out there, picking one would need some sort of procedure.

Heel Natalya

Full blown heel?

The turn of Natalya at Becky Lynch was completely unexpected. While we were all busy about the main event and the other big matches, no one actually saw this coming. The turn of Natalya mainly sets up two things. First, WWE will now be able to pile up more sympathy on Becky and we could have a Becky vs. Natalya feud going forward.

And secondly, we could see Charlotte and Dana Brooke embarking on a new feud. And this new feud could be with anyone. It could be with Paige who has two wins against Charlotte or with Sasha Banks who is a fan favorite despite the lack of appearances. WWE might even pit them all together for a Triple Threat match at SummerSlam.

Rusev, the heat attractor

Rusev has a lot of heat on him

Rusev defended his United States Championship against Titus O’Neil last night and it was a match that no one looked forward to. Jammed between the Main event and the Money in the Bank match, it felt like a toilet break before the big event. But the ending of the match turned out to be a great angle. Rusev made Titus O’Neil tap in front of his children on Father’s Day.

And not only that, Rusev then went on to tell those children that their father was a loser. Classic heel move from the Bulgarian Brute, this is something that he needed. Fans will be eager to see him get beaten up after this and hopefully WWE could capitalize the situation.

The Club interference

Reactions coming

Before their showdown at Money in the Bank, John Cena and AJ Styles had signed a contract that kept Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows away from the match. However, thanks to a referee bump, Anderson and Gallows managed to interfere and due to the same, AJ came out winning the match which could have gone either way.

From how the match ended, Cena deserves a rematch but at the same time, it would be interesting to see how AJ reacts to The Club. WWE did post a photo on Instagram which showed all three of them celebrating, but that does not mean AJ could be happy with what his friends did.

But, if Styles is happy then John Cena might need some backup to take care of The Club. A returning star like Randy Orton would be a perfect backup for Cena.

Shield Triple Threat in title scene

Time for the match that we all wanted

The major talking point from the Money in the Bank pay-per-view was the win of Dean Ambrose. Ambrose won the Money in the Bank briefcase after a great match and fifteen minutes later, he went on to cash it in successfully on Seth Rollins to win the WWE championship. That is, all three members of the Shield were champion in a space of just five minutes.

Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns are directly involved in the title scene now and what we could expect now is a triple threat. This, however, would be too big for Battleground but at the same time, will be perfect for SummerSlam. The reaction of all three members will be featured on Raw and this makes it a must watch show.
