WWE News: Chris Jericho calls Roman Reigns the best wrestler in WWE

What's the story?

In an interview with SI, WWE Superstar Chris Jericho spoke about how Roman Reigns may well be the very best wrestler in WWE in spite of the WWE Universe booing him at every show.

In case you didn't know...

Reigns, who is now the heir to John Cena's throne as the 'face of the WWE', has not been well received by WWE's passionate fans.

This past week on Raw, Reigns and Cena -- the two biggest names in the WWE, at least in the eyes of Vince McMahon and co. -- faced off and had an incredible face-off in the ring with both trading barbs on the microphone.

The heart of the matter

In the interview, "The Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla" backed Reigns and said that it is the 'cool thing' to boo Reigns just as it was when WWE fans booed and continue to boo John Cena.

Jericho also claimed that "The Big Dog" may be the best in the WWE and said, "For whatever reason, it's the cool thing to boo Roman Reigns, just as it was the cool thing to boo John Cena, just as it was the cool thing to boo The Rock. But guess what? Those guys are so good that if you really are a wrestling fan; Roman Reigns might be the best wrestler in the company.

"And I'm telling you that because if people are interested in what you're doing whether they're booing or whether they're cheering, they're still going to pay money to see you," said Jericho (H/T Cageside Seats).

What's next?

Reigns and Cena will face off at No Mercy on September 24, 2017, in Los Angeles, California. The two will face off for the very first time in a PPV.

Meanwhile, there's no recent news about Jericho's WWE future.

Author's take

Jericho's declaration of Reigns being the best wrestler in the WWE is a very controversial one. There are several WWE Superstars who are miles ahead of Reigns in in-ring work; perhaps Jericho has seen something that we haven't.
