What’s the story?

John Cena and Roman Reigns have kept the wrestling community enthralled with their recent promo battles, but their latest squabble on Twitter is adding more fuel to the fire.

The Twitter war started when Cena responded to Reigns’ message from Sep. 5, 2017 regarding the No Mercy pay-per-view and end with both men promising another encounter on Raw.

In case you didn’t know...

Cena and Reigns have been at odds with each other since 2016 when the two would go back and forth on Twitter regarding various comments the other made. The feud cooled off for much of 2017, but picked back up again when Cena returned to Monday Night Raw following the SummerSlam pay-per-view.

The contract signing on the Sep. 4, 2017 episode of Raw generated a ton of buzz for their feud and had many fans questioning whether the promos were legitimate shoots or scripted dialogue.

The heart of the matter

Reigns sent a tweet promoting his match with Cena the day after the contract signing and said that Cena does all the talking while Reigns will do all the walking.

Cena would respond to that message by questioning the “Born to Reign” line in his twitter bio and misspelled supremacist as “supermist” in this deleted tweet.

Cena sent out another message suggesting that someone in WWE asked him to take down the tweet which lead Reigns to mock Cena for his social media mishap and suggested he should stick to getting filmed lifting weights.

Cena would admit defeat in their social media bout but dissed Reigns for the fact that he wears a padded vest to protect himself.

What’s next?

Reigns responded to Cena’s diss by telling him to “See me at #Raw” which led to Cena agreeing to do so while reminding Reigns that the live verbal exchanges haven’t worked out in his favor.

Author’s take

Reigns and Cena keep making this feud more and more interesting as the weeks pass and its only adding to the anticipation and atmosphere of the match.

The Los Angeles crowd has generally been a great place for WWE events and the energy they will bring to this WrestleMania calibre match could preserve No Mercy 2017’s place in the history books.
