Sami Zayn competed against The Miz to earn his way into the title picture, while Owens competed against Zack Ryder to sustain his spot in the picture. At the end of Raw, the IC Title was announced to be defended at Extreme Rules in a Fatal 4 Way match.

Kevin Owens was annoyed by the interruption and he predicted that he would win back his Intercontinental Championship. Owens also said that he’s going to show the other three how he doesn’t need tables or chairs to get extreme.
Sami Zayn, on the other hand, feels happy. He told Tom Philips that it’s been a long time coming and he has always dreamed of getting a chance to fight for the IC Championship since he was 10 years old. He also said that it was really big for him.
