SummerSlam has arguably the most stacked card in its history. It is the first Pay-per-view after the brand split, and it will feature an inaugural champion in either Seth Rollins or Finn Balor, it will see how Roman Reigns does in his “demotion” to the upper mid-card, it will see a renewed Dolph Ziggler take on Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship, it will see a match 15 years in the making between Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton, it will see a vital rematch between Sasha Banks and Charlotte, it will see the culmination of the great feud between John Cena and AJ Styles, and so much more.
The New Day have been on a great run since 2015. After a long run with the titles, people always wondered when they will drop the belts. Many felt that The New Day should have dropped it at Money In The Bank in the fatal-4-way tag team championship match, which also featured Enzo & Cass, The Vaudevillains and The Club. People felt that The Club should have won the titles then.
However, it then became clear that they wanted to drag it so that New Day could break Brian Kendrick & Paul London’s record-setting championship reign. Then, when they were going to break the record around Battleground, it was announced that their match against the Wyatts was a non-title one, so it became obvious that they wanted The New Day to touch a full year with the titles.
It is being reported that The Club are expected to walk out of Summerslam as the new WWE Tag Team Champions. It cannot be denied that it would do them wonders now. The New Day do not require the titles anymore, and can still have a good run without them.
In another marquee match at SummerSlam, John Cena will face off against AJ Styles in what is expected to be the final match of their feud. It is important to note that John Cena won’t be appearing on WWE television after Summerslam, as he is going to be filming American Grit season 2. AJ Styles is also on an extremely hot run as a heel. It is being reported that AJ Styles is expected to win the match and the feud, so that he can look strong going forward as the top heel of Smackdown Live.
