What's the story?
Kane's real name is Glenn Jacobs and that name could be very important to the residents of Knox County, Tennessee because he's running for Mayor. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently included an update about a possible WWE return for Kane.
In case you didn't know...
Kane dominated the WWE and has seen a lot of different stories in the process. A lot of people have wondered how things would have been if Kane had never been unmasked. But it's hard to argue that things turned out pretty well for Kane.

Not only did Kane get his face on movie posters, but he also had the chance to show people how good he looked in a suit. Kane was operating an insurance agency in Knoxville. Now he's running for Mayor of Knox Country Tennessee and he plans to represent his constituency proudly.
The heart of the matter
Kane has been plenty busy recently as he runs for Mayor of Knox County. He hasn't appeared on WWE television since he made his last appearance at a WWE Live Holiday Tour on December 5th, 2016 in Tyler, Texas. He teamed with American Alpha to defeat The Wyatt Family during that show and hasn't been in the ring since.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are no current plans for Kane to return to in-ring action at this point. Obviously, his political endeavours are taking priority.
What's next?
Kane is going to run a very hard Mayoral campaign and could wind up winning the election. He very well might only be showing up on WWE Television from this point on to wave hello to his constituents when WWE rolls through Knoxville, Tennessee.
Author's take
If you were going to write a strange reason for Kane to leave WWE, becoming Mayor might be too crazy to list. But he's a very intelligent guy and would make a very fine Mayor at the end of the day. His contributions to WWE History will never be forgotten and if he doesn't come back he'll have a very good reason.
Let's just hope they can arrange a political debate surrounded by fire because that would be epic.
