WWE: Superstar ratings for 17th June RAW

Christian_2

After Sunday’s Payback PPV, there were a lot of expectations from this week’s RAW. With the return of CM Punk and Mark Henry’s tweets about retirement, a lot of hype and buzz surrounded this week’s episode. Let us now see how each superstar performed on the show.

Wade Barrett

Wade lost his WWE Intercontinental title to Curtis Axel in the triple threat match on Sunday, and this was scheduled to be his rematch, until Vickie Guerrero came out and said he’d face a returning superstar, who turned out to be Christian! Wade lost the match in under 4 minutes. Are you surprised? I’m not! But this time, he lost to someone who deserved it.

Rating: *

Christian

Captain Charisma made his long awaited return this week on RAW, and defeated Wade Barrett. Christian didn’t miss a beat in the ring, with a huge cross body from the top and an impressive showing. I’m excited to see him back; he’s one of my favorite stars of all time.

Rating: **

Sheamus

Sheamus took on Team Rhodes Scholars this week in a 2-on-1 handicap match. It’s easy to forget how Rhodes was on a roll not so long ago as the IC champion. WWE makes it easy for the fans to forget just how good Rhodes and Sandow are, and this week, they were dominated by Sheamus until Sandow rolled up Sheamus out of nowhere for the pin and the win.

Rating: **

Team Rhodes Scholars

How do you destroy two promising careers? Make them look like a joke, and WWE has been successful in doing that with Cody and Sandow. I am a huge fan of them both, but WWE makes them look like glorified jobbers.

Rating: * ½

Randy Orton

Orton faced Bryan in a No DQ match this past week, and Orton said Bryan was indeed the weak link. After the 11 minute mark, the match ended abruptly when the doctors and the referee stopped the match due to an injury to Bryan. Looks like they were legitimately worried about Bryan, and it was fortunate that it was nothing but a stinger. This could’ve been a great TV match, but unfortunately they couldn’t go through with it.

Rating: ** ½

Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan is the hottest star in the company right now, and the rumors about him main event-ing the Money in the Bank PPV turned out to be just rumors. He took on Orton this week, but was unfortunately hurt and the officials didn’t take a chance with it. Good call by the officials.

Rating: ** ¾

Dean Ambrose

Ambrose took on Kane in a rematch for the WWE United States championship, but before long, Rollins and Reigns interfered and gave a triple powerbomb to Kane. The Shield wasn’t involved in anything else through the night.

Rating: Dud

Kane

Kane got his offense in, but before he could do anything else, The Shield interfered giving him a DQ victory. That’s it? I wanted to see if The Shield would interfere in the Orton – Bryan match, but that too ended abruptly in an unplanned finish.

Rating: Dud

Antonio Cesaro

Not too long ago, I wrote an article about how Cesaro needs a manager like Colter, and that’s exactly what happened. I’m happy for Cesaro, and I hope the former Claudio finds his feet in the WWE. He’s one of the most talented performers on the roster.

Rating: **

William Regal

Regal lost to Cesaro in a squash match, and Cesaro looked impressive. Regal is one of the best wrestlers in the world, but unfortunately, he’s too old to be involved in any meaningful feuds.

Rating: *

Chris Jericho

Jericho took on Slater in yet another squash match. He then threw the other two members out of the ring. Nothing special about it.

Rating: **

Heath Slater

Slater lost in what was a squash match at the hands of Chris Jericho. Are you surprised?

Rating: *

Curtis Axel

Axel took on Sin Cara in yet another 3 minute match, which he won by drilling Cara’s head to the mat with a spike DDT. Hey, he won a match clean!

Rating: * ¾

Sin Cara

Cara returned to RAW this week, and lost to the new Intercontinental champion. That’s the most relevant thing he has done for a while.

Rating: *

Alberto Del Rio

The new World Heavyweight champion faced a returning CM Punk in the main event of the night. The match ended at the 11 minute mark when ADR walked out of the match, only to be attacked by Ziggler. A good start to his heel run.

Rating: ** ½

CM Punk

Punk-New-Look

Is it a surprise that Punk was the star of the show? Not only did he deliver a good promo against ADR to kick things off, but he also had a decent match with ADR as the main event. Lesnar returned and attacked Punk, giving him an F-5 to end the show. I predicted this feud long ago, and things will only get interesting from now.
