Vince McMahon talks about Shane's post-WrestleMania plans

It remains to be seen if Shane’s stay wil be long term or a last-minute scramble to replace Cena-Taker

In a recent interview with Bryan Fritz of The Orlando Sentinel fresh after the WrestleMania 33 announcement, WWE CEO Vince McMahon opened up about a couple of topics including changes in the WWE, working with his son Shane again, and most notably John Cena, reports dailywrestlingnews.com.

On the topic of Cena’s absence from WrestleMania for the first time since 2003, McMahon compared the wrestler to New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth, and noted that he was ‘everything’ to the company, while labelling him a warrior.

Vince also brought up Cena’s passion and love for WWE, stating that the latter was crazy about the sport ever since he was a kid, alluding to the famous picture of him with a mini-championship belt made out of cardboard.

The 70-year-old referred to Cena as one ‘hell of a guy’, and stated that he would always keep trying to be at his best.

Cena will unfortunately miss WrestleMania after more than a decade due to a shoulder injury in January, which has kept him on the sidelines for an unspecified time.

The wrestler has been keeping himself busy since then and has concentrated on film and TV projects.

When asked how having his son Shane back at WWE is, Vince said: “It’s been awesome. I was hoping that one day we might get back together. It’s difficult. Fathers and sons sometimes, in the same business at a certain stage, it can be very difficult.

“You love each other just as much but you see things a little differently. You have the old bull and the young bull and the old bull is not ready to give it up, his horns are still sharp. It’s great that Shane is back.”

The older McMahon didn’t offer anything conclusive on whether a corporate position was in store for his son, and stated that only time will tell what’s in store for the next generation. Vince could hardly hide his excitement about working with his children and Triple H, remarking that having all four of them together could keep each other and the fans entertained indefinitely.
