One Piece chapter 1113 was officially released earlier this weekend, bringing with it the exciting continuation of the ongoing Egghead arc’s conclusion. Fans were especially excited about this issue, given the previous release’s ending cliffhanger, teasing Gorosei member Saint Marcus Mars having discovered something truly shocking in Punk Records.

Thankfully, One Piece chapter 1113 didn’t disappoint with the reveal, with fans being just as shocked at what Mars discovered as he himself was. However, the issue also brought with it some more pressing reveals, most notably the start of Dr. Vegapunk’s message, which revealed a shocking fate for the series’ world.

One Piece chapter 111, titled Stalemate, opens with Mars commenting on Punk Records being known as the world’s largest brain. Dr. Vegapunk’s broadcast continues as Mars says this, while he questions if the massive, severed head and brain before him is Dr. Vegapunk’s true self. He further asks what death is to something like this, wondering if even his consciousness is housed in his brain inside Punk Records.

After saying this, he walks towards the Transmission Transponder Snail on the floor, as the focus shifts to Syrup Village. Here, Kaya, Merry, and the former Usopp Pirates members are seen listening to Dr. Vegapunk’s message. Marines are also seen paying attention to the imminently beginning message, as are Crocus and Laboon at the Twin Capes.

One Piece chapter 1113 then shifts to Baldimore, where the old man Franky knew is seen telling others that Dr. Vegapunk is from their island. The scene then shifts to the Birdie Kingdom, where its inhabitants are seen discussing Tony Chopper. Focus is also given to Hachinosu Island (although no Blackbeard Pirates are seen) as well as an unknown island on the Grand Line.

Back on Egghead, Mars goes to step on the Transponder Snail, but it’s revealed that the outer shell is fake. In other words, it’s not responsible for Dr. Vegapunk’s broadcast, causing an enraged Mars to turn back into his Itsumade Yokai form. As Mars informs the other Gorosei of what happened, people are seen anxiously awaiting Dr. Vegapunk’s message to begin.

One Piece chapter 1113 then sees Mars explain that York claimed Dr. Vegapunk intended to carry the torch of the Oharan scholars. He adds that this won’t be a repeat of Clover, whom they simply executed, and that he intends to finish what Ohara started. The reactions of Gorosei members Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, Saint Topman Warcury, and Saint Shepherd Ju Peter are all seen as Mars says this.

Focus then shifts to Dr. Vegapunk’s lifeless body, as Sanji says he heard Jewelry Bonney crying out. The scene returns to Bonney’s group, where Sanji arrives just in the nick of time and kicks Nusjuro. However, Nusjuro turns his head into its Bakotsu form, biting down on Sanji here. This prompts Oimo and Kashii to get involved, allowing Bonney to use her Devil Fruit powers to begin attacking Nusjuro.

One Piece chapter 1113: The world’s fate

One Piece chapter 1113 sees Dr. Vegapunk admit via his message that he committed two grave sins, and he will soon die as a consequence, so he had set the broadcast to start when his heart stops beating. People all over the world, including Big News Morgans and Caesar Clown, are seen reacting to Dr. Vegapunk’s death.

He then continues to say that he doesn’t want people assuming those who struck him down are evil, asserting that he doesn’t know enough about “him” to be qualified to discuss and judge right versus wrong. At this moment, Saint Saturn is seen reaching Nami’s group, immediately targeting Nico Robin, as she recognizes his voice as the Gorosei who spoke with Clover and co before the Oharan genocide.

One Piece chapter 1113 then sees Nami order everyone to protect Robin as Saturn attacks, diving onto Robin and saying they’ll keep her safe no matter what. She also uses Zeus to block one of Saturn’s legs here, as Chopper blocks another with Guard Point, Usopp with his Pop Greens, and Brook slices off one of the legs.

Focus then shifts back to Mars, as Dr. Vegapunk prefaces that what he’s about to say will be hard to accept. Mars, meanwhile, rants about how futile this is and there are too many people in the area of the Labo-Phase for him to find the Transmission Transponder Snail. Vegapunk York is seen thinking about where it could be as well, assuming that her status as a Celestial Dragon is in jeopardy, given how things have gone.

One Piece chapter 1113 sees Dr. Vegapunk suggest that they destroy the Power Plant to destroy all of Egghead Island and the Transponder Snail responsible for the broadcast likewise. However, Warcury and Saturn advise against this, saying while the loss of human life is irrelevant, the loss of Mother Flame production capabilities is significant.

Dr. Vegapunk then finally shares his message, claiming that the world will sink into the ocean one day, which shocks all of the Marines seen hearing the broadcast. The issue ends with a panel focusing on some mermaids and fish happily swimming on the seafloor.

One Piece chapter 1113: In summation

With such a shocking revelation ending One Piece chapter 1113, fans are obviously in total shock at this proclamation from the late Dr. Vegapunk. Likewise, fans are eager to learn whether or not the former Marine scientist is truly dead, especially considering Mars’ commentary on Punk Records’ secret early on in the issue.

Unfortunately, fans will be waiting for answers to both for quite some time, with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine taking a publication break following this release for the Golden Week holiday. As a result, fans can expect One Piece and other Weekly Shonen Jump series to return on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 12 am Japanese Standard Time.
