The recent FaZe Clan layoffs have grabbed headlines, with many esports and streaming personalities talking about the situation. On April 28, 2024, YouTuber Adisson "YourFellowArab" posted on X that the esports organization would not return to its roots because the "internet has changed." The IRL content creator lamented the loss of "OG FaZe" and speculated that the next generation of FaZe Clan would be solely focused on "gambling and crypto."
"OG FaZe will be remembered, but the internet has changed...New FaZe will be a be a crypto pump milked to the last very dollar, till it runs out of juice. Gambling & Crypto."
Richard Bengtson or FaZe Banks, new CEO of FaZe Clan, was seemingly upset with YourFellowArab's comments. He responded on X stating the internet has grown by "minimum 10x and closer to 100x" since the New York FaZe Clan House era. He elaborated:
"You're a f**king re**rd. 'The internet has changed,' as in it’s scaled at minimum 10x probably closer to 100x since peak FaZe House NYC. More viewers, more users, more 'gamers,' more time spent consuming internet content. So scaling shouldn't be an issue? FaZe was its 'biggest' peak Fortnite and when I was vlogging. Peak vibes NY forever, but as far as numbers Fortnite era."
He added that "crypto gaming" will be a "significant pillar of the digital future" and called out YourFellowArab for being a skeptic:
"So again you're a f**king idiot. Crypto Gaming is going to be a significant pillar of the digital future. And it's gonna take a game like GTA to participate for f**k faces like you to accept it. You're literally the guy calling the internet a scam in the 90's."
FaZe Banks added:
"Just like the ones who told us you couldn't turn playing video games into any kind of career, we went f**ked around and created a globally recognized brand. I will shatter this take down the line, it's only a matter of time - you will look even dumber than you do now."
"I've never 'pumped and dumped' on a viewer" - FaZe Clan CEO FaZe Banks responds to YourFellowArab accusing him of "pumping and dumping"
YourFellowArab responded to FaZe Banks' tweet later that day. Stating that the 32-year-old "seemed very angry," the Lebanese-American personality accused him of pulling a "pump-and-dump" scheme on his viewers.
He said:
"You seem very angry. I've always been all about the internet, my whole life. But if we're getting angry and defensive here let's not act like the last three years of your career haven't been purely pump and dumping your viewers. NFT, crypto tokens - 'not financial advice but this one makes you mad money staking.' I'd get even more personal but I have a level of integrity that I don't need to stoop below."
Richard quickly defended himself, claiming he had "never pumped and dumped" on his viewers. The FaZe Clan co-founder then described YourFellowArab as "absolutely clueless."
He wrote:
"I've never 'pumped and dumped' on a viewer. It’s actually the opposite. I've held s**t to zero because I've spoken about it. You’re absolutely clueless. The only reason I have any validity at all, or any sort of credibility in crypto is because I do it right. FaZe Banks previously responded to Twitch streamer Kalei's expulsion from FaZe Clan saying that she was "recruited during the darkest era" of the organization.
