While the release date of Grand Theft Auto 6 is quickly approaching, there is still no sign of a Story Mode DLC expansion for GTA 5. Rockstar Games formally announced that it would release new single-player DLCs for the 2013 title. However, in the latter period, officials from the studio stated that Grand Theft Auto 5 was a complete game and that it would not have any story expansions.

Regardless of this, the player base still wants the gaming studio to release single-player DLCs, especially following the Grand Theft Auto 5 Source Code leaks. This article briefly explains why Rockstar Games should release at least one GTA 5 Story Mode DLC before GTA 6.

The GTA 5 leaks of December 2023 disclosed that Rockstar Games had planned eight Story Mode DLC expansions for the game. They are as follows:

  • SP Assassination Pack
  • SP Manhunt Pack
  • SP Norman Pack
  • Agent Trevor
  • Relationship Pack
  • SP Enterprise Pack
  • Prologue DLC
  • LibertyV DLC

This shows that despite Rockstar Games claiming that the game is complete, there are still multiple scopes for expansion. The Grand Theft Auto community was shocked and angered to see the studio scrapping this many projects for their beloved game. Therefore, to balance things, Rockstar should release at least one DLC from the above list before the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.

It is believed that Rockstar Games used most of the assets from the above-listed DLCs in Grand Theft Auto 5 Online. However, the Prologue DLC, LibertyV DLC, and others are seemingly unused to date.

A Prologue DLC would be a great way to finish the GTA 5 saga before the player base moves to Grand Theft Auto 6. Therefore, Rockstar Games should make it a reality instead of wasting the planned assets.

One of the most common complaints from the community is that Rockstar Games has provided no special features for Story Mode in the Expanded and Enhanced version. The studio only provides one GTA Online weekly update every Thursday and two half-yearly DLCs, which is common across the board.

Since PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players still have to pay for the decade-old game, they should receive at least one Story Mode DLC in GTA 5. This would make the investment in the game feel more worthwhile and satisfying.

There is no doubt that Grand Theft Auto 6 will beat the records of the current title. But, GTA 5 Story Mode also deserves special treatment before the GTA 6 second trailer.
