Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz is among the biggest What-Ifs in NFL history. The quarterback, born just before 1993, on December 30, 1992, is serving as the backup to Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City, after signing 1-year deal with the Chiefs in 2024. He won two consecutive NCAA FCS National Championships as a starter playing for North Dakota State University. From there on, he was projected to be a mid-first-rounder. However, as he continued to impress, Wentz gained momentum and eventually, became the second overall pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016.

The highest-drafted FCS player, Wentz became a sensation in 2017. After leading his team to an 11-2 record, injury struck Wentz. While the Eagles successfully won their first Super Bowl in the franchise’s history, Carson was unfortunately stuck to the bench. His career then became a lifetime of injuries. Even though he led the Eagles to the playoffs the following two seasons, injuries forced him into a limited role each year. After losing his starting spot, he was moved to the Indianapolis Colts, and then the Washington Commanders. In 2023, Wentz served as Matthew Stafford's backup in LA.

How many Super Bowls did Carson Wentz win?

Wentz made it to the Super Bowl once in his career, winning on that occasion. The win came in his sophomore season, in 2017. Wentz won the title in Super Bowl LII with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Super Bowl LII - Philadelphia Eagles (2017)

Carson Wentz joined the Philadelphia Eagles with the second pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. After joining the starting unit as a rookie, Wentz enjoyed a phenomenal 2017 campaign.

While his numbers improved, he led the team to an 11-2 record. But, a torn ACL forced him to miss the remainder of the playoffs. In 13 starts, Carson finished the year with 3,296 yards, 33 touchdowns, and a 101.9 quarterback rating.

His backup, Nick Foles, led the Eagles through the playoffs and the Super Bowl, winning 41-33 against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

How many Super Bowls did Carson Wentz go to?

Unfortunately, Wentz only made it to the Super Bowl that one time. Since then, injuries have forced him to miss a lot of time. Further, a bad attitude and uncoachable tendencies further deteriorated his stock.

As a result, the Eagles traded him to the Colts, who further moved him to the Washington Commanders. He was on his fourth team in 2023 when he signed with the Rams.

As of January 2025, Wentz sits behind Patrick Mahomes on the Chiefs QB depth chart (via the Kansas City Chiefs Official depth chart).
