2023 NBA Summer League
The National Basketball Association (NBA) will hold its off-season competition from July 7 to July 17, 2023, primarily at the Thomas and Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the campus of the University of Nevada. The competition is also known as the NBA 2K24 Summer League 2023.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) sponsors an off-season basketball competition known as the NBA Summer League, also referred to as the Las Vegas Summer League. Instead of using their regular season lineups, NBA teams get together to test out various summer rosters with rookie, sophomore, and G League affiliate players. In addition to the Las Vegas Summer League, the current NBA Summer League also includes the California Classic and Salt Lake City Summer Leagues.
Previously, the NBA Summer League was also known as the Utah Jazz Summer League, the Orlando Pro Summer League, and other leagues when they were also mentioned with their host cities. Both of these leagues featured NBA teams.
Summer leagues have been around for a while. In the past, there was no formal structure, and leagues occasionally overlapped without being formally coordinated. From 2002 to 2017, the Orlando Pro Summer League ran every year with the exception of 2005 and 2011. The Las Vegas Summer League, which began in 2004 and currently features 32 teams, is by far the largest league in the league. The Rocky Mountain Revue was an event held from 1984 to 2008 before going on a protracted hiatus due to declining attendance. The Utah Jazz Summer League replaced it in 2015, and it goes on.
The NBA's California Classic Summer League, which was first established in 2018 and took the place of the Orlando Pro Summer League and Utah Jazz Summer League on the calendar. The Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, and San Antonio Spurs will face the Sacramento Kings in a six-game series.
