Will Hardy took over as the Utah Jazz's ninth head coach in June 2022. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, he went to St. Christopher's High School. After which he joined Williams College in 2006, graduating in 2010. In the same season, he joined the San Antonio Spurs as an intern for basketball operations, and in 2011, he was promoted to assistant video coordinator.

Under Gregg Popovich, he was promoted to assistant coach for the 2016–2017 season. He made two trips to the NBA Finals (2013 & 2014) and won an NBA Championship (2014) throughout his 11 seasons (2010–2021) with the Spurs. He began serving as an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics in 2021-2022 under head coach Ime Udoka.

What is Will Hardy’s contract?

In 2022, Hardy agreed to a four-year contract with the Jazz, which included a five-year team option. As per Front Office Sports, his annual salary is $4 million. In September 2024, the Jazz exercised the fifth-year option and the deal will keep Hardy with Utah until the 2026–27 season. After Joe Mazzulla of the Boston Celtics, he is the second-youngest NBA head coach. Since joining the rebuilding team prior to the 2022–23 season, he has guided the Jazz to an overall record of 68–96.

Hardy spent one season as an assistant coach with the Celtics, following Ime Udoka, concluding their run to the 2022 Finals. He then became the first head coach hired by Ryan and Ashley Smith during their stint as Jazz franchise owners. This was also Hardy's first time being head coach. His contract extension indicates that the Jazz think he is the best coach to help them return to the postseason for the first time since 2022.

Will Hardy’s Contract Terms

The Utah Jazz’s contract with Will Hardy was initially signed for four years in 2022, but the fifth-year option was exercised in late 2024. It extends the contract till 2026-27.
