Tate Ratledge plays as an offensive lineman and was a senior during the 2024 season for the Georgia Bulldogs football team. His hometown is in Rome, Georgia, and began his football career at the Darlington School. Ratledge had a remarkable career at Darlington School under head coach Tommy Atha, becoming one of the country's best linemen prospects. He was rated as a five-star prospect by Rivals and PrepStar rankings, he was named to the All-American team by Sports Illustrated and USA Today. He was also invited to play in the 2020 All-American Bowl. Ratledge guided Darlington to a 9-2 mark and the Region top 6 seed during his senior year. He was a two-time All-State first-team member and also the 2019 Opening Finals Dream Team pick. He also played basketball and ran track events in high school, finishing third in shot put at the 2019 Class A-Private State Championships.

In 2024, Tate Ratledge won numerous accolades, such as being selected in the AFCA All-America First Team, AP All-America Third Team, AP First Team, and the All-SEC Coaches First Team. He was also named the All-SEC SEC Co-Offensive Line Player of the Week for his performance against Tennessee, made it to the Preseason First Team, the All-American voted by Walter Camp, USA Today, ESPN, AP, and the Preseason All-SEC First Team voted by AP & Coaches. He was on numerous Watch Lists, including the Outland Trophy, Lombardi Award, and the Senior Bowl. In the 2023 season, Tate Ratledge was named to the AP All-America Second Team, the AP First Team, the All-SEC Coaches First Team, and the All-SEC Preseason Media Days All-SEC First Team. He was also included in the Outland Trophy Watch List and the Lombardi Award Watch List.
