On Sunday, Zaka Ashraf, the former chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board has said that, allegedly the BCCI (Board for Cricket Control in India) had threatened them for opposing the proposed structural overhaul of the ICC.

“They were threats directed at Pakistan but our stance was clear,” Ashraf said recently.

“But in the governance issue obviously our stance was clear and we could not support anything that went against our interests and our cricket,” he said.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif had relieved Ashraf of his duties, this past week for “mishandling Pakistan’s case in the changes brought in the ICC” and has since been replaced by Najam Sethi.

At the ICC board meeting, where the big three cricket nations – India, England and Australia, were proposed to get the majority of powers, the Pakistan board has abstained from voting.

Ashraf further spoke about Pakistan’s official stance on the issue, and that the PCB’s governing body were twice taken into confidence regarding the issue. He also mentioned that they had made it clear, that Pakistan will not be supporting the proposed structural changes.
