Reports: Arsenal interested in signing Stevan Jovetic...again
Reports have emerged this morning linking Arsenal with Montenegrin forward Stevan Jovetic – who currently plays for Serie A side Inter Milan. The 26-yeay-old has been linked with Arsenal before especially before his big-money move to Manchester City in 2013.
The 26-year-old was loaned out to Inter Milan from Manchester City on an initial 18-month-deal with a provision to sign for the Milanese club on a permanent basis. Roberto Mancini – the manager of Inter – hasn't been overly impressed by the striker is willing to let go of him this summer.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have been rejected by Jamie Vardy, according to Arsene Wenger and are on the lookout for another striker. With Olivier Giroud the only senior striker the club have, the French manager insists that he tends to make more signings and it is believed that a striker is one of his top priorities.
The Gunners were reportedly in for Stevan Jovetic back in 2013 and apparently also made a bid for the then-Fiorentino striker but were beaten by rivals Manchester City to his signature. Jovetic never took to the Premier League back then and hasn't been in the best of form for Inter as well.
Last season, Jovetic scored seven goals in twenty-eight appearances for Inter Milan assisting a further three – numbers that don't befit a 26-year-striker on the cusp of his golden years. While Wenger will be aware of his stats, he's running out of options as every European giant seems to be interested in signing a 'top top quality' striker.
Arsenal are also said to be interested in Breel Embolo – Switzerland's young star. However, it emerged earlier this month that Manchester United had already gone ahead and bid for the young striker.
Meanwhile, Manchester City and Barcelona are said to be interested in signing Brazil's young goalscorer, Gabriel 'Gabigol' Jesus. The 19-year-old has been the on the radar of some of Europe's top clubs including Arsenal who could really use someone with flair and pace up top.
