Hamburg Sign Another Chelsea Player on Loan

Chelsea have announced they have loaned out defender Jeffrey Bruma to Hamburg for the 2011-12 season.

An official statement on Chelsea’s official website read, “Jeffrey Bruma has today (Thursday June 30) signed on loan with Hamburg on a one-year loan deal.”

Bruma will spend the next season at Hamburg

Bruma joined Chelsea’s youth set-up from Feyenoord as a 15-year-old in 2007. He made his first-team debut in late 2009 and has since made nine appearances for the club. Bruma, who joins Hamburg on a season-long switch, with the option for one more year, made two league appearances for the Blues when the club was facing a defensive crisis. The player then spent three months on loan at Leicester City last campaign, making 11 appearances for Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side.

“Hamburg is the best option for me,” Bruma told Hamburg’s official website.

“Here, I can play at the highest level in Germany.”

The 19-year-old is contracted to Chelsea until 2014 and will reunite at Hamburg with Michael Mancienne, Jacopo Sala and Gokhan Tore, who all recently joined the Bundesliga side from the Blues on a permanent switch.
