Transfer Rumour: Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United want £80 million rated Antoine Griezmann
Griezmann has been the talisman going forward for Atletico Madrid in the last couple of seasons.
Antoine Griezmann has been one of the most talked about players for the past couple of seasons after emerging as Atletico Madrid's talisman. According to Sunday's rumours, the Frenchman is being targeted by the English giants like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United for a move next summer. He has previously talked about moving to England with Atletico aiming a price of £80 million for the 25-year-old.
Both Simeone and Griezmann are expected to depart from Spain next summer as the Frenchman has sacked his agent recently and has decided to represent himself amidst interest from all of the European major clubs. "From now I'm going to operate without an agent," he told French sports daily L'Equipe. But I will always have the advice of my father and also my mentor, Eric Olhats."
Griezmann, who signed a new deal in June this year had confirmed that he won't leave Atletico until Simeone is at the club but may change his mind once Premier League clubs start to lure him away from Spain. He scored 32 goals last season in all competitions and has emerged as a serious competition to Cristiano Ronaldo for 2015 Ballon d'Or.
After scoring twice in Atletico's 5-0 victory over Celta Vigo, Simeone said that the Frenchman deserved to win the Ballon d'Or for his heroics for both club and country. He said, "For me, last year Griezmann was the best player in Europe, I have no doubt about what I say. He reached the finals of both the Champions League and Euro 2016, scoring many goals, and scored many goals in La Liga too.
“The consistency he has makes him stronger. I hope he is up there for the Ballon d'Or, as he is in great form, and will get even better if he continues like this."
Griezmann is said to have a release clause of €100 million but that won't be an issue for the major Premier League clubs. The 25-year-old will be another quality addition to the league with him being a world class addition to any squad. When asked about interest from England, Griezmann had once said, “Why not move to England? If I am out of contract with Atletico I would ask myself that question.”
