Commentary

The Dambulla Giants are making their way to the second qualifier here and they have won by a pretty close margin here than expected. The Colombo Stars with and excellent comeback in the second innings with a dream start of the first ball wicket followed by the second wicket coming in early on in the innings! The Colombo Stars were looking like they were going to turn things around completely but it looks like the Stars had a fault in their stars! They missed out on some really important wickets by some really close calls and to add to it the batters were ensuring the scoreboard was ticking slowly but surely! The bowlers did make it interesting in the middle by conceding very little runs but they were ultimately outplayed by batters like Janith Liyanage who made a 56 not out and Nasbullah making a 34 and they are on their way to play the winner of the Playoff 1 which will be starting in no time!

Janith Liyanage: The ball was not spinning much. If we rotated strike we had the chance to win the match. The wicket here is good. I was waiting for my chance.

Angelo Mathews, Colombo Stars captain: It was a good sporty wicket. We were about 15 to 20 runs short. We were pathetic in the field. From picking the team at the lost moment to come all the way it has been a good journey. I wis all the best to the remaining three teams.
