Dalton Schultz attended Stanford University and played collegiate football for the Stanford Cardinals. Dalton Schultz is an American football tight end for the Houston Texans as of the 2024 NFL season. The Dallas Cowboys selected him as the 137th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Throughout his five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, he eclipsed the 500-yard mark receiving in three seasons. His breakthrough was in the 2021 season, when he played in 17 regular-season games, starting all, recording 78 receptions for 808 yards and eight touchdowns, all of which are his career high. However, in March 2024, he signed a three-year deal with the Houston Texans and has had five touchdowns and 59 receptions for 635 yards, achieving a career-high average yards per reception of 10.8.

Dalton Schultz earned a football scholarship to Stanford University; his major was science, technology, and society. He began his college football career in 2014. He played for the Standford Cardinal football program. He did not play in any games and was redshirted at the time. As a redshirt freshman in 2015, he appeared in all 14 games, serving as a backup to Austin Hooper. During that season, Schultz made 10 receptions for 121 yards and scored one touchdown.

In his sophomore year in 2016, Schultz became the starter following Hooper's departure for the NFL Draft. He played in all 13 games, contributing with 23 receptions for 222 yards. Schultz, recognized with honorable-mention All-Pac-12 honors, played a crucial role in blocking for running backs Christian McCaffrey and Bryce Love.

Before the 2017 season, Schultz earned a spot on the John Mackey Award watch list. Throughout the 13 games that season, he primarily served as a blocker, recording 22 receptions for 212 yards (fifth on the team) and three touchdowns. Schultz played a key role in supporting running back Bryce Love, who rushed for an impressive 2,118 yards. His contributions earned him a place on the All-Pac-12 First Team, and he declared for the 2018 NFL Draft after the season.
