Justin Herbert is an American Football quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers as of the 2024 NFL season. He was selected in the 2020 NFL Draft in the first round as the sixth overall pick by the Chargers. Born in Oregon, the former 6th overall pick started his career at Sheldon High School where he played football, basketball as well as baseball. A broken leg complicated his equipment process but he was still named First Team All-State and was the Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Eventually, Herbert chose to go to Oregon in October 2015. His second season saw him continue his strong play as he threw for more than 5000 passing yards, and 38 passing touchdowns. Further, he led the team to a 9-8 record and was recognized for his excellent play with his first career Pro Bowl. He completed the 2022-23 season with 4,739 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while leading the Chargers to the playoffs, but lost in the Wild Card Round. Herbert signed a mega contract extension with the Chargers in 2023 worth $262.5 million, making him the NFL’s highest-paid player at that time. However, his 2023 season was cut short due to a hand injury. But Herbert still managed to put up more than 3,100 yards in 13 games he played in. He threw for 20 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions that year.
