
Deion Sanders is an American football coach and a retired NFL Hall of Famer. As of August 2025, Sanders is the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes at the University of Colorado Boulder. He was the fifth overall pick in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons, where he played until 1993. He then played for the San Francisco 49ers in 1994, the Dallas Cowboys from 1995 to 1999, the Washington Redskins in 2000, and the Baltimore Ravens from 2004 to 2005, before retiring in January 2006. Throughout his career, Sanders was a two-time Super Bowl champion, earned the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 1994, and was selected to eight Pro Bowls.
During his college years, Sanders attended Florida State University from 1985 to 1988, playing football, baseball, and track, and was a two-time Unanimous All-American (1987, 1988) and a Third-team All-American in 1986. He played high school football at North Fort Myers High School. The school is located in Florida. He was also named to the Florida High School Association All-Century Team in 1985.
