Osaka began her clay season in France at the 2024 Rouen Open, where she lost to Martina Trevisan in the first round. At the 2024 Madrid Open, the Japanese won her first-round encounter against Greet Minnen 6-4, 6-1 but lost in the second round to Liudmila Samsonova 2-6, 6-4, 5-7.

After her Madrid Open exit, Osaka posted a philosophical message on X ( formerly Twitter), reflecting on happiness and life. She wrote:

"How bold of me to assume I'll live long enough to fade away. After all, nothing in life is promised. Everyday and every breath is a blessing, it should be viewed as such."
"How bold of me to assume tomorrow is promised, to find joy and happiness in all moments of life is true wealth."

She also wrote that she was hopeful about the future, adding that she felt everything was about to click.

"Ngl guys I think I’m on to something. It’s all about to click, I feel it in the air," Osaka wrote.

Naomi Osaka recently appeared on an episode of her media company Hana Kuma's YouTube series GOOD TROUBLE with Nick Kyrgios. The Aussie questioned her about her learnings during her time away from tennis and how important it was for her.

The Japanese said that the time away changed her perspective, adding that she rediscovered her purpose and regained momentum and happiness.

"I think this time has kind of changed my perspective a lot. I feel like for me I am a person that needs to have purpose and there was like for the past two years I was playing tennis I didn’t really have one and now I feel like I have kind of gained my momentum and gained happiness again," Naomi Osaka said (15:44).

Kyrgios then asked her if taking time away from playing tennis was the most important thing she had done. Osaka replied that the break gave her time to be grateful, adding that having a daughter(Shai) who looked up to her was a good feeling.

"Yeah, I think definitely this time away has really given me space to kind of be kind of grateful for everything. I mean I feel like there is one way to like say you are grateful but then to kind of have good feelings and kind of appreciate everything and know that you know when you were a kid you would have dreamed to be in the position you are in right now. It’s a very happy feeling for me and, I don't know, I also think just having a daughter and having her look up to me and wanting to show her everything and all the beautiful places in the world is really cool," she said (16:13).
