Big Show and his relevance in the Authority storyline

In an array of young, quick and promising superstars, the WWE’ summer storyline of the renaissance of the Corporation has Big Show playing one significant role. It is not a complaint.

Big Show

He is a veteran and has worked for the company for years, and eventually became irresponsible with his money, which is a human trait. We all get broke in various ways. He has no dilemma, no choice. He is forced to dismantle his friends and in a fictional situation based on business and contracts, one might wonder if there is ever a fictional court where superstars can file for fictional harassment cases. But that would bring logic and take the ‘fun’ out of this storyline, won’t it?

The role has definitely gotten better with time, as Big Show does not waste much time weeping and has come to accept his fate. ‘Yes, Ms. McMahon’ is what he’s supposed to do. His knockout punch on the American Dream Dusty Rhodes was effective particularly because he held him and held onto him till he put him on the ground and accompanied him in the ambulance. I wonder how Ms.McMahon felt about him leaving for the night in the ambulance.

It’s better to not have him knock out just Daniel Bryan. His services of knocking out anyone that McMahon pleases seems to be an effective move. Short and sweet. This should become a consistent characteristic and role for the Big Show until he finally snaps. The locker room snapped quite soon, so Big Show snapping soon cannot be ruled out. But it’ll be better if he just becomes all plastic and unexpressive as the company’s beast of burden.

If we are supposed to believe that this angle will continue till Wrestlemania, then several superstars may come and get fired. There are going to be several ups and down for the locker room and the Authority. So if Big Show is significant, as in really, really significant, then he should snap anytime in the next few weeks and burn into ashes by getting fired.

Or he can make cameo appearances and still remain relevant by knocking out people according to the whims and fancies of his authority.

Right now, Big Show does not seem to be an overload as he started out to be in the storyline. He definitely is getting utilized better. It remains to be seen how things change when Mark Henry returns. After all, they were both babyfaces and were supposed to face the Shield for the tag titles, but as Henry is out cold with an injury, Big Show is trying to capture and give in to the emotional pulse of the storyline. Will the world’s biggest and strongest team re-form forces? Will Mark Henry save the Big Show from the clutches of the Authority?

The good thing about the Authority storyline is that it has not seemed to be in creative limbo like most WWE storylines. Being a McMahon or a Helmsley in these storylines can do wonders.

All that remains to be seen, but so far, so good.
