NBA TV Schedule in India: Jan 11-20

Chicago Bulls v New York Knicks

Now this is what I’m talking about. The Knicks, Heat, and Lakers are playing more than one time this week on TV in India. There are 7 matches in the next ten days for us to watch. And unless its a typo in the schedule, one of the matches is on Sony PIX.

Here are the match timings and schedules.

The Rose Garden, home of the Portland Trailblazers, is one of the toughest places for any team to go and get a win. Now one may assume that the Miami Heat just run roughshod over any team which doesn’t feature a couple of all stars, but this one ought to be a grindout battle. The Portland Trailblazers are standing at 19-15, good enough for third in the Northwest Division. The Heat are at 23-10 and are the favourites to win this one.

Chicago @ New York

PIXSat01/12/20136:30 AM

Battle of two Eastern Conference powerhouses. If only Derrick Rose was back. Even without him the Bulls are standing pretty at 19-14. The New York Knicks came out of the gate as the best team in the league, they are standing at 23-11 which is still pretty good, but they have gone 5-5 in their last ten games, bringing down their record a little. Expect them to have the upper hand in this one.

I’ve triple checked, this one is listed as being on Sony PIX, and not SIX. Ah well, more matches for us hopefully.

New Orleans @ New York

Read what I wrote about the New York Knicks again, an amazing team. And look at the New Hornets Pelicans, ah Hornets still but not for long. Its like the two teams have inverse records. The Hornets are standing at 10-25 to 23-11 of the Knicks. Expect a beatdown here. Maybe a literal beatdown after the way Carmelo Anthony has been putting on the gloves these days.

Miami @ Utah

Recall what I wrote about the Rose Garden arena. Utah is also one of the toughest places to go and get a win at. Its not just the robust fanbase. Its the climate too. There’s a reason their logo featured snow capped mountains. Give this a read on how climate provides an incredible advantage in sports. If there’s one thing which cuts the cold, its Heat. Unforgivable pun. Heat will take this one. Moving on.

Miami @ L.A. Lakers

Miami Heat v Los Angeles Lakers

SIXFri.01/18/20139:00 AM

Back in the start of the season one may have anticipated a tougher battle in this one, these days the Lakers are just depressing right now. One silver lining has been the return of Steve Nash and him notching up his 10,000th assist. That hasn’t been good enough to turn around the Lakers’ season though. The Heat flying in and thumping them around won’t make things any better for the Lakers.

Golden State @ San Antonio

SIXSat.01/19/20137:00 AM

Back in the start of the season one may have anticipated a beatdown from the Spurs to the Warriors in this one, but the Warriors are just scorching right now. Much credit is being given to the addition by subtraction, removal of Monta Ellis or as now they can call it, dumping of Monta in Milwaukee. They are also playing inspired defense this season. The Spurs are the evergreen dynasty of the NBA right now and are sitting pretty at the top of the Soutwest division at 28-10. The Warriors are at 22-12, having lost four of their last 10 and being on a two game losing streak right now. The Spurs in contrast have won eight of their last 10. And this match will be at AT&T Center. Expect the Spurs to take this one.

L.A. Lakers @ Toronto

SIXSun.01/20/201311:30 PM

Back in the…well you know, Raptors were a fledgling team looking for an identity/projecting an identity on Bargnani which he just wouldn’t let stick on him. Although they are at 13-22 right now, they have won 7 of their last 10 and have prompted opponents to remark that this is not the same Raptors team as it was at the start of the season. They are playing with grit and pride and they very nearly defeated the OKC Thunder if you remember watching that on Sony SIX a few days ago. In contrast, the Lakers are at 15-20 having lost six of their last ten games. No other trainwreck is more painful to watch than one with the train loaded with talent. Fans everywhere are waiting and watching for them to turn it around. Maybe the team against which Kobe exploded for 81 points back in the day can give them the spark once again.
