BTS' J-Hope's unfathomable success as he addresses societal norms and stereotypes with his songs

J-hope's debut solo album, Jack in The Box, released on July 15, 2022. It addressed societal norms, discrimination, stereotypes, losing oneself in the hustle culture, and more.

He wrote Arson, More, Future, and = (Equal Sign) and other tracks from his debut solo album. Through these songs, he intended to discuss the hopes and dreams that every person possesses but must hide because of the constraints of a professional route.

The rapper's second solo set, HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1 was released on March 29, 2024. It explored the themes of going back to one's roots and deep culture while embracing individuality. This track conveyed the message of creating a bridge between the past self and the present, going beyond for one's passion, and supporting old friends.

The album's track lock / unlock featured American record producer and songwriter, Benny Blanco, along with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician, Nile Rodgers. The BTS idol was credited both as a lyricist and composer on the song by the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA).

Previously in 2018, J-hope's first mixtape titled Hope World (2018) became the highest-charting single by a Korean soloist, reaching #30 on the Billboard 200 at the time of its release. It also debuted at the top of the Billboard World Albums chart in 10 different countries.

He was listed as a writer on each of the seven tracks for his debut mixtape. Its main single, Daydream, was a lively house song that discussed J-Hope's difficulties of being a Korean idol. It peaked at #1 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales list.

In September 2019, the South Korean artist dropped his second solo single titled Chicken Noodle Soup, featuring Spanish-American singer Becky G. It was released in Korean, English, and Spanish. The lyrics discussed the BTS rapper's history with dance starting from his days with Neuron Crew.
