The Lunatic Fringe is on the cusp of cracking $1m in guaranteed pay

Dean Ambrose is one of the highest earners amongst younger crop of WWE Superstars and is only behind his former Shield stable-mates Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns.

The only one’s ahead of him, apart his Shield brothers, are the veterans of the company such as John Cena, Randy Orton and Triple H and part-timers such as Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker. This clearly shows that The Lunatic Fringe has come a long way.

Dean Ambrose was born on December 7th, 1985 as Jonathan Good in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ambrose went through a tough childhood, where he grew up in a public housing in an area that had torn and dilapidated buildings. According to him, every single day of his life was a struggle and he had to learn how to care of himself.

Fortunately for him, he found an escape from such a torrid life through professional wrestling. Ambrose lists Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart and Paul Heyman as his inspirations growing up. Ambrose later decided to drop out of high school to pursue a career in professional wrestling.

After initially selling popcorns and helping the ring crew, Dean Ambrose made his professional wrestling debut in 2004 for Heartland Wrestling Association, under the ring name Jon Moxley. Ambrose spent 6 years with the HWA, winning the promotion’s World Heavyweight Championship and Tag Team Championship several times.

Ambrose wrestled in Insane Pro Wrestling, winning its top title twice. He also had brief and smaller stints some other promotions on the independent circuit such as Dragon Gate USA, Evolve, Full Impact Pro, Ring of Honor and Jersey All Pro Wrestling.

However, his most notable non-WWE work is considered to be in Combat Zone Wrestling. Before he joined the WWE, Ambrose was notorious for his participation in some incredibly violent matches for CZW, including one where his head was made to look like it had been cut by a chainsaw

After toiling in the smaller promotions, Ambrose was finally signed by the WWE in April 2011. He had previously wrestled some dark matches for the company back in 2006.

Immediately after signing, Ambrose joined Florida Championship Wrestling, which was WWE’s developmental territory at the time. During his stint in FCW, he was involved in some critically acclaimed matches with future Shield member, Seth Rollins. He also started working live event matches for the WWE in this period.

Dean Ambrose made his WWE main roster debut at Survivor Series 2012, interfering in the Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship between CM Punk, Ryback and John Cena, alongside Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.

The trio, dubbed as The Shield, wrecked havoc in the WWE for the next few months and established themselves as one of the most dominant and successful groups in WWE history.
