As speculated earlier, talks about retiring the World Heavyweight belt were circulating in the WWE after John Cena handed over the gold title to Ric Flair on Raw this week.
Flair left with the title and that made fans revert back to JBL’s statement on the commentary table earlier that night about only one title being in the show.
But since today, the WWE.com’s champions page has Cena on display with only the WWE belt under him. That may be a strong indicator that WWE are considering to retire the concept of two belts in order yield a newly designed single title.
It remains to be seen whether along with the current reports of removing the WWE scratch title permanently after SummerSlam PPV, will they choose to revamp the title or not.
