Royal Rumble 2019: 6 Last-minute rumors you need to know

2019 WWE Royal Rumble
2019 WWE Royal Rumble

We're only a few days away from knowing who will be the first two superstars who will book their spot at WrestleMania 35 by winning their respective Royal Rumble matches.

Moreover, most of the titles are scheduled to be defended this Sunday at the Royal Rumble PPV except the Intercontinental Championship. Besides this, the WWE Universe has a lot to worry about other than the outcomes of these championship matches, the winner of men's and women's Rumble match.

As you already know, going into the match, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch are the clear favorites to win their respective RR matches

Therefore, as we're in the final moments before we get to see the one of the first big four PPV's of this year, let me run you through those six last-minute rumors surrounding the PPV. Let's start.

#6 Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Kurt Angle's Status

Kurt Angle, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn
Kurt Angle, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn

All three men, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Kurt Angle are absent from WWE TV for the past several months. The first two men aren't seen due to the injuries issues, while Kurt Angle is absent due to lack of storyline or maybe because of some other unknown issue.

Though WWE recently aired vignettes for the return of Owens and Zayn a few weeks back, according to rumors, both men aren't expected to be the part of one of the first big PPV's of this year. On the contrary, it doesn't take away the possibility of us seeing them as a surprise candidate in the Men's Roya Rumble match.

Moreover, Owens is reported to return on Raw after Royal Rumble and commence a feud with Bobby Lashley for the Intercontinental Title as a babyface.

While speaking of Kurt Angle, according to the latest rumor, the Olympic gold medalist is expected to be a part of men's Royal Rumble match.

Therefore, you can expect a short appearance by Kurt Angle this Sunday but don't get your hopes high to see Owens and Zayn.

#5 John Cena still expected to be a part of Royal Rumble

John Cena
John Cena

A few weeks ago, when John Cena returned to Raw he announced his participation in this year's men's Royal Rumble match.

Unfortunately, now John Cena is no longer a part of the match, as this week on Raw it was revealed that Cena has sustained an ankle injury he can't be a part of his match this Sunday.

Therefore, this announcement has led many people in believing that they won't be seeing the 16-time world champion this Sunday. But according to the latest rumor, this ankle injury of John is indeed staged as Cena has to start shooting his upcoming movie in this first week of February and since he can't afford an injury, therefore, WWE decided to pull him out of the match by doing this injury angle.

That being said, although Cena isn't expected to be a part of men's Rumble match, the latest rumors state Cena is expected to do a very short cameo this Sunday. Also, it is surprising to see that Cena is still betting favorite to be in the top four candidates of men's Royal Rumble match.

#4 The Plans for Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair

These three women, Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair are rumored to be a part of a triple threat match at WrestleMania 35. At the Rumble, Ronda Rousey will defend her Raw Women's Title against Sasha Banks and is expected to retain it successfully.

Moreover, Becky Lynch will try to get hold of Asuka's SmackDown Women's Title this Sunday, though the odds aren't in favor of Becky regaining the title but, according to recent rumors, Becky is expected to lose her title match against Asuka maybe because Rousey would Interfere in the match, and then later in night go on as a surprise entrant in the women's Royal Rumble match, eventually winning it.

Also, you can't count out Charlotte Flair to win the women's RR match as she's also rumored to have her big moment this Sunday.

Maybe a similar scenario from 1994 Royal Rumble match could repeat, when Lex Luger and Bret Hart hit the floor at the same time, therefore, we could possibly see this type of thing in women's Royal Rumble match with Charlotte and Becky.

That being said, if the above-mentioned case doesn't happen, Charlotte can still be part of this rumored triple threat match, as Elimination Chamber and Fastlane PPV still lies between Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 35, therefore in this meantime, Charlotte could still book her place.

#3 Roman Reigns' Possibility for this Sunday

Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns relinquished his Universal Title last year. He surprised us all when he dropped the bomb that he is fighting Leukemia and he has to treat it due to which he will no longer be the fighting champion that he has always claimed about himself.

Moreover, even though Reigns' next appearance inside the WWE ring hasn't been announced yet, according to the latest rumor there are slight chances of seeing The Big Dog this Sunday. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed:

“It’s not like Roman is confined to a hospital bed or anything like that. The last I heard he was training in Hawaii so he’s not at home or maybe he is now, but he wasn’t last week.”

Therefore, even though the rumors suggest, Roman might appear at the Royal Royal PPV, but if he does appear then don't expect him to work in a big match.

#2 Kenny Omega at Rumble

Kenny Omega announced his departure from NJPW a few weeks back. Now, The Cleaner is rumored to sign with newly created promotion AEW, instead of WWE.

Also, according to the latest reports, WWE did all the things they could have to sign Omega with the company, but unfortunately, we won't be seeing him inside a WWE ring anytime soon.

Moreover, even though Omega hasn't officially announced that which company he going to sign now, but this has led many people in believing that they might see Omega making his WWE debut this Sunday at the Royal Rumble PPV, same as AJ Styles, but since Omega's contract isn't going to run out until the first week of February therefore, it rules out all the chances of seeing The Cleaner at Rumble.

Also, Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks said the opposite when a fan approached him on the social media said:

Omega specifically told me if a fan randomly messaged me, I should tell you. So here it is…. Yes, he will be there to breach his contract and illegally wrestle for another company.”

#1 A Swerve for the #30 spot

No. 30 Spot
No. 30 Spot

Last year, WWE announced that the winners of the Mixed Match Challenge Season 2 will be entering at the no. 30 spot into their respective Royal Rumble matches. And as you already know, R-Truth and Carmella have earned the #30 spot, therefore technically they have more chances of winning their respective Royal Rumble match than any other superstar.

Though we all believe that R-Truth will be the final entrant into the men's Royal Rumble match according to the latest rumor R-Truth entering at the #30 spot is just a smoke-screen for the fans, WWE is possibly planning a swerve for the #30 spot.

Therefore, we could possibly see R-Truth forgetting that he has the no. 30 spot into the men's Rumble match, or maybe we could see him trading his spot with someone else.

That being said, if Truth doesn't enter the Rumble match as the final entrant then we could possibly see the likes of The Rock or Batista making their way to the ring at number 30.
