With another week left for SummerSlam after this, this week’s SmackDown was taped in Australia more than a week back. So all those who have gone through the spoilers, this preview won’t mean much. The card for SummerSlam is still far from complete and WWE needs to start picking up pace if it plans on making the card look acceptable. With a great deal of storyline build up on RAW this week, Smackdown should aim at ending the week on a high.

Without further ado, let us look at what we should expect from SmackDown this week.

1. No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Title

Alberto Del Rio hasn’t chosen a contender for his title yet. While many were expecting RAW this week to announce the contender, Del Rio instead ended up losing a match to Christian which meant the wait had to continue. SmackDown this week has the best chance of revealing the top contender for the title. Who will Del Rio choose to be his contender? Will Vickie Gurrero have a say in his choice?

2. Will Damien Sandow repay Cody Rhodes?

Cody Rhodes humiliated his former friend and tag partner Damien Sandow last week by throwing the MITB briefcase in the Gulf of Mexico. So it is acceptable that Sandow is raring to payback all that humiliation and Rhodes’s match this week on SmackDown is the best place. So what will Sandow’s role be in this match and will Rhodes be prepared for this attack?

3. Punk’s small problem on SmackDown

Apart from Punk’s major feud with Lesnar, he has had a small hurdle in the form of Fandango. Punk’s speech last week on SmackDown was abruptly interrupted by Fandango and the master dancer didn’t have much to say as Punk made him go to sleep. However, this week, Fandango has the opportunity to make things even by taking on Punk. How will Punk get rid of this menace? Will Fandango receive help from Heyman and co to further anger Punk?

4. How will AJ Lee manage to handle the Spear fear?

AJ made it clear this week on RAW that she feared Kaitlyn’s spear. Getting speared every time in the ring is not a happy feeling for AJ and despite Big E’s presence AJ is not able to gain victories which is hurting her reputation as a Champion. Does AJ have a new plan to tackle Kaitlyn or will we see AJ lose again to the former Champion on Smackdown this week?
