WWE: Top superstar ratings from June 24th RAW

This past week on RAW, storylines were furthered while the episode also had two solid TV matches. In this article, I look at the top 5 stars from the show and give them a rating out of 5.

Daniel Bryan

It’s only sensible to start with a guy who has been on fire, and this period is arguably the best in his entire career! When Daniel Bryan signed up with the WWE, even his ardent fans were sceptical about his chances in an organisation which was notorious for signing up good talent and wasting them, only to release them when their steam was completely blown off. When Bryan was released after the debut of Nexus, people all over the world had an ‘I told you so’ expression on their faces. But Bryan not only came back strongly, but also held the World Heavyweight championship. At this point, he’s the hottest star in the company and is rumoured to be in line for a WWE title run sooner rather than later. This week, he was involved in yet another match of the week contender, as he took on Randy Orton, and finally defeated him.

Rating: ****

Randy Orton

Orton faced Daniel Bryan this week on RAW and lost to the goat faced underdog, after an impressive 15 minute bout. Orton was stuck without a proper feud, and his brief alliance with Bryan was nothing short of entertaining. He was announced as a participant in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE championship, and one hopes that he turns heel during the bout.

Rating: ***

Chris Jericho

It’s a known fact that Jericho is one of the best workers in the business, and can put on good to great matches with anyone. This week, Jericho faced the World Heavyweight champion, Alberto Del Rio once again in his rematch from SmackDown! which ended up being another solid TV match. Although Jericho won the match via DQ, he was dropped by a Zig Zag from Ziggler. Jericho was then informed that he’d be facing Ryback at Money in the Bank PPV. That’s a good move, considering the fact that Jericho will soon leave WWE indefinitely to tour with his band, Fozzy. Although it makes sense for Jericho to put Ryback over, he has feuded with Punk, ADR and Ziggler in the past 10 days! That doesn’t speak well with the direction creative has in mind for him.

Rating: *** ¼

CM Punk

Ever since Punk returned, WWE became a whole lot interesting, and that is what Punk brings to the table. This past week, Punk was involved in yet another outstanding segment with Paul Heyman, and was then involved in a match against Young, which Punk won. The Punk – Heyman – Lesnar storyline has turned out to be very interesting, and it will be fascinating to see how this feud ends. Being a huge fan of Punk and Heyman, I’m expecting great things from both these individuals, and they haven’t disappointed me yet.

Rating: ***

Alberto Del Rio

Alberto’s run as the World champion has started on a good note, as he has been facing top notch talents in the WWE in Punk and Jericho. This week on RAW, ADR took on Jericho in what was yet another solid TV match, that ended in a DQ when Ricardo hit Jericho. Post match, Ziggler rescued Jericho and delivered a Zig Zag to the World Heavyweight champion. Their match at the Money in the Bank PPV has been made official, and it will be interesting to see if WWE goes ahead with a ‘Title hunt’ storyline for Ziggler, or if they’d put the title back on Ziggler once again.
