WWE: Triple H’s regime needs to grow to handle the babyface rebellion

The Shield was finally outnumbered on RAW last night. What was once the Shield’s stronghold has now, become their biggest nightmare. Though one is not sure why Triple H ordered the match to take place in the first place, one thing is pretty clear that the regime needs some new additions to help handle the rebellion.

The Hounds of Justice were given their own treatment last night as The Usos, Ziggler and Bryan surrounded Rollins and made him the victim of his own poison. But this situation is something that WWE cannot put the Shield in often. Doing so will hugely impact the Shield’s credibility as a destructive group. Plus the act has the possibility of becoming repetitive if carried out too many times. Hence, WWE has to play this storyline with care and thought.

At this very point it looks as though the regime has more than 11 superstars to fight off. Though Zack Ryder and Justin Gabriel can be written off, let’s just assume that they are going to be a part of the storyline. So how does Triple H handle the rebels with the help of the Shield alone? The handicap match this week clearly showed that the Shield cannot do it alone. With Cody Rhodes and Goldust added to the list, it is pretty obvious that there aren’t enough bad guys alongside Triple H to fight this rebellion led by Daniel Bryan.

When you look at all the wrestlers who have supported Bryan; only a few have a match at Battleground. Bryan faces Orton for the vacant championship, Ziggler might face Dean Ambrose for the US title, and Rollins and Ambrose might face off any tag team or even the surprise pair of Rhodes and Goldust. Irrespective of how one puts it, it is obvious that a handful of other wrestlers are left without any match.

This is where the addition of new heels into the plot can keep most of the others in the roster occupied without having to remove them from the corporation storyline. Additionally, superstars like Zack Ryder and Justin Gabriel, who have surprised many by making TV appearances, will find a decent storyline to gain some relevance.

There are many other wrestlers who do not have a storyline to get involved in. R-Truth, for example, is currently floating around in the company. And for a wrestler who has been loyal to the company for so long, this will not be the right way to mark the final years of his career. So who does Triple H bring into the scenario at the moment?

Wade Barrett will be a great inclusion into the storyline for the time being. Many expected him to play a useful role after he was introduced as a barber but hasn’t been seen ever since. Making Barrett come out and sneak up on a few babyfaces backstage can announce his entry into the corporation storyline and Triple H can then use him along with the Shield to do his dirty work.

Other credible additions can be the Wyatt Family and Alberto Del Rio who can prove to be threatening forces alongside Triple H. Also, there is the possibility of Triple H luring a few babyfaces to join his side under the prospect of a better future in the company.

The lack of forces to deploy forced Triple H to put the Shield in such an unfavorable match. The loss this week should have made the boss realize the need for added manpower to maintain his dominance in the company.
