The Briscoes have won tag team gold around the world and AEW may be the next stop.

AEW has assembled one of the greatest tag team divisions ever seen in professional wrestling history. Their focus on tag teams has been evident since the very beginning of the company and has only grown in the past two years. All Elite Wrestling may be on their way to adding one of the most decorated tag teams in the business today to their roster.

Jay and Mark Briscoe may very well be one of the most influential tag teams of the past two decades. They have won 21 tag team championships over their careers, including the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. They recently added to their illustrious legacy by winning the GCW World Tag Team Championships.

With The Briscoes about to become free agents, AEW seems like a perfect fit for them to sign with. It would be the first time they have been apart of a mainstream wrestling promotion with weekly cable television. In this article, let's take a look at five AEW dream matches for The Briscoes.

#5. Former AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks

One of the centerpieces of the AEW tag team division from the beginning has been the Young Bucks. Matt and Nick Jackson were featured in high-profile encounters with the top tag teams that have come to the promotion, but they have been one of the best tag teams in the world for over a decade now. This means that they have faced a litany of tag teams before their time in All Elite Wrestling.

One of their greatest rivals is The Briscoes. The pair of brothers have clashed in two-on-two action as well as an epic three-way ladder match against SCU back in 2018. The Young Bucks and the Briscoes have a chemistry that has been proven and delivered at some huge events, but it would be an even bigger stage in AEW.

The reason why the Young Bucks rank so low is that they have met the Briscoes in the past. It isn't the typical dream match due to their long history against one another. However, the time they have spent away puts a new coat of paint on this established feud.

Jay and Mark haven't faced this iteration of the Young Bucks. Whether it be on AEW Dynamite or pay-per-view, this is the type of matchup that can headline shows and has Match of the Year potential as well. If the Briscoes want to make an immediate impact in the promotion, beating Matt and Nick Jackson is the way to do that.

#4. Former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston

The Briscoes bring a level of authenticity that not many tag teams in AEW can match up with. From their promos and in-ring style to their connection with one another and ability to connect with fans, this is something to behold. However, the one tag team that can say the same thing is Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston.

The friends turned enemies turned friends again have become a wildly popular team that the AEW fanbase always rallies behind. A battle between these two tag teams would be physically intense and likely a crazy brawl that will go all over the arena. Blood will likely shed if and when these four men square off. It will be an all-out street fight that will be a spectacle.

#3. Santana & Ortiz

Santana and Ortiz, better known as Proud N Powerful, have hit the heights of almost every promotion they have come to. The former IMPACT Tag Team Champions were the top tag team for that promotion before signing with AEW in September 2019. They have been an integral part of the Inner Circle stable and have been featured prominently in some of the main event storylines.

Proud N Powerful and The Briscoes seem like a natural fit as opponents. They both have similar high-impact styles that produce excellent matches. Both tag teams have a bevy of double-team maneuvers that excite fans and could build quality bouts against one another. This certainly has the potential to create magic inside the squared circle.

#2. FTR

FTR came to AEW last year and immediately became a force to be reckoned with. They had a remarkable run in WWE, winning the NXT, RAW, and SmackDown Tag Team Championships along the way. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler put on excellent contests against DIY, American Alpha, and The New Day during their time in Vince McMahon's promotion before coming to All Elite Wrestling and winning the titles there.

When FTR left WWE, they had a bucket list of tag teams that they wanted to square off with. One of the top teams on their list was The Briscoes. Jay and Mark have etched their names in history as arguably the most underappreciated tag team of their generation. However, FTR respects what they have accomplished and their legacy for the sport they love.

FTR and The Briscoes could be a throwback to the old-school 80s style of tag team wrestling. These four men understand psychology and how to build to dramatic finishes in the tag team format. They both have signature tag team offense that would mesh well and create greatness, something any fan would love to see happen.

#1. AEW World Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers

The Lucha Brothers were part of the original signings for AEW and instantly found themselves with the Young Bucks in one of the top feuds in the company. After battling over the AAA World Tag Team Titles in the first shows' of the promotion, the four men wouldn't meet again until All Out 2021 when they fought inside a steel cage for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.

Their Match of the Year candidate at All Out 2021 was a breathtaking steel cage bout that culminated a significant rivalry and saw the Lucha Bros win the AEW World Tag Team Titles for the first time. With The Briscoes as free agents, their first target may be the top team in the promotion.

Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have shown versatility, unlike many tag teams that the Briscoes have met in the past. They can have some spectacular high flying, high octane bouts as well as bloody wars. Jay and Mark Briscoe are no strangers to that and would welcome a fight against Penta and Fenix.

The Briscoes would be remiss not to go straight to the top of All Elite Wrestling. They would have to deal with the ruthless violence of Penta El Zero Miedo and the unreal agility of Rey Fenix. That's why the Lucha Brothers have to be considered the biggest AEW dream match for the Briscoes.
