Chris Jericho is one of the biggest names in AEW today. He has won top titles in nearly every promotion he’s worked for. Along with that, he has also competed in many tag teams and factions, something that has allowed him to become friends with many wrestlers.

Tony Khan's promotion has hired some top names over the past few years, and many of them have a long history with Jericho. Meanwhile, many of the newcomers in All Elite Wrestling have benefited from his experience, and consider him their mentor.

Several current AEW stars and personnel are good friends with Le Champion behind the scenes. However, there are a handful who are really close to the former AEW Champion in real life.

With that in mind, take a look at the seven real-life friends of Chris Jericho in AEW.

#7. Sammy Guevara is friends with Chris Jericho

Sammy Guevara is just 28-year-old while Chris Jericho will soon celebrate his 51st birthday. Despite the age gap, the two stars share a special bond behind the scenes.

During a recent appearance on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Guevara commented on his friendship with Jericho, among other things.

“I didn’t know him prior to AEW. He ended up watching NWA 70, which I was wrestling at, and for whatever reason he saw my match and he took a liking to me. That’s one of the reasons I was brought into AEW and into the Inner Circle. But it was more as TV weeks just progressed and we were doing stuff on TV, Le Sex Gods, and we were texting back and forth just with ideas."
"A real friendship just kind of grew naturally, it wasn’t a forced thing. I really can’t describe one moment, but it was pretty much just the weeks of TV. We just became better and better friends as time has gone on, through the good times and the bad times. He’s been there for me when I’ve needed it most. I love that guy and I’ll do anything for him,” said Sammy Guevara.

Sammy Guevara has grown as a wrestler and entertainer in AEW after working alongside Chris Jericho. Many stars have credited Jericho for their success, and it’s good to see that the youngster has found a true friend in the veteran.

#6. Don Callis is good friends with Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho and Don Callis have history together in wrestling and have been friends for 30 years.

Callis has worked as a commentator in AEW and appeared with Kenny Omega on a few occasions. He has called Jericho the best performer in wrestling and Omega the best wrestler.

“I’ve always been a guy that has a very small group of people that I consider my friends. Chris Jericho and I have been friends for 30 years. He’s my oldest and closest friend in this business. Chris and I, we talk business because Chris is brilliant. I think Chris Jericho might go down as the greatest all-around performer and entertainer in the history of the business and I think Kenny Omega will go down as the greatest wrestler in the history of the business. I will go down as the greatest revolutionary, high-level thinker in the business, and that’s three guys from Winnipeg. So, that’s pretty cool,” said Don Callis.

Callis considers Jericho his closest friend in the business. The Demo God is billed from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in wrestling - the same place where Don Callis was born.

#5. Chris Jericho and Taz go a long way back

Chris Jericho has made several friends on the way to becoming one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Taz is one of the men who is good friends with Jericho.

The two men go way back and have shared some special moments during their wrestling careers. During an episode of Talk is Jericho, the two men spoke about their friendship, along with other things related to wrestling.

“My old friend from The Original ECW and WWE shoots straight on leaving ECW for WWE, his relationship with Paul Heyman, the Taz gimmick, his locker room reputation, and that incident with Rob Van Dam. Taz also remembers his top secret meeting with Vince McMahon, how he became a color commentator (against his will) at WWE, and why he ultimately left the company.”

Taz is currently working as a commentator in AEW while Chris Jericho is one of the biggest names in the wrestling industry. It’s good to see that both the men are working together for the same company again.

#4. Chris Jericho and Dr. Luther are longtime friends

One of the first matches between Chris Jericho and Dr. Luther took place in 1991 in Canadian National Wrestling Alliance (CNWA). Since then, the two men have been good friends behind the scenes.

Luther never took off like his friend Jericho, but he has still performed all over the world for different promotions. In 2019, Luther joined AEW as a wrestler and producer. Chris Jericho was ecstatic to have his friend work alongside him, and posted the following on Instagram:

“After 30 years of riding the roads and taking bumps worldwide, @dr.luther signed his first national US contract today w @allelitewrestling! #Luther has impressed a lot of people over the last 4 months and finally was rewarded with the chance of a lifetime, not just in the ring but in the @aewontnt office as well. Can’t think of anybody more deserving of this shot and even tho he is one of my closest friends, be warned...he’s gonna TEAR OFF SOME FACES in #AEW!” Chris Jericho posted on Instagram.

The two men seem to share a special bond and it’s good to watch Jericho’s friend sign his first national US contract for AEW. The two competed against each other in a tag team match at Jericho's 30-year anniversary show in All Elite Wrestling.

#3. Chris Jericho is good friends with Big Show (Paul Wight)

WWE fans will be aware of Chris Jericho and Big Show's work in the ring together. They competed in many matches for the company and also formed a great tag team known as JeriShow.

The two superstars won two WWE Tag Team Championship reigns before parting ways. What’s interesting is that Big Show and Chris Jericho were never too close. However, they became good friends after teaming up together in Vince McMahon's promotion.

Jericho has called Big Show his favorite tag team partner, and noted that they would argue “like an old married couple.”

“[…] I would have an idea and then he would come up with an idea. I would say, ‘yeah that’s good, but mine’s better.’ He would say, ‘Fine, I’ll just sit here and be a big stupid giant and won’t say a word.’ We had a great chemistry and a great friendship. He was an excellent partner for sure,” said Chris Jericho.

Both stars have reunited in AEW after spending some time apart working for different companies. The promotion could team them up for a short run to give old-school fans some good moments.

#2. Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho have been friends for some time

It’s no secret that Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho are good friends behind the scenes. The two men worked for WWE for several years and shared the same locker room. Hardy and Jericho are currently competing for AEW and have had a couple of tag team matches against each other.

The former posted a video on the internet not too long ago, and many individuals believed that Big Money Matt was making fun of Chris Jericho. Hardy cleared the air and reminded his fans that he’s great friends with Le Champion.

“For the record, I am not making fun of @IAmJericho. I just saw an opportunity to make a cute parody of last week’s wacky events & remind people of how entertaining I can be. Chris is a great friend & is an industry master of evolution & reaction. ENJOY!” said Matt Hardy.

Matt Hardy and Chris Jericho are two of the biggest names in the wrestling industry, and it’s great to know that they are friends behind the scenes. Both men are signed to AEW where they are working in different storylines. The promotion could look to book a big rivalry between the two before one of them calls it a day.

#1. Chris Jericho and MJF have become good friends over the past couple of years

AEW has had several major storylines since its inception. However, none have been as big as the one between Chris Jericho and MJF. Maxwell Jacob Friedman requested to join The Inner Circle and defeated Jericho to do so. He later turned on The Demo God to begin a great rivalry with the veteran.

Chris Jericho has also called out MJF for stealing his gimmick. However, the two stars are good friends behind the scenes. MJF was asked about how the friendship between the two men started during a recent interview.

“Honestly, the first time I realized that I kind of like this guy, it was right after I kicked Cody in the nuts, and I came out the next week to announce to the world why I did it,” MJF recalled. “And Christopher just happened to be in the ring, and we ended up having a bit of a conversation in front of a live audience. And in that moment, I realized this guy’s all right. There’s something to him. He’s got something, and I’m sure he realized the same thing as we were looking eye to eye. Post that, I wanted to win that world title. I still do want to win that world title. It’s all I care about. It’s my one and only goal."
“[...] That’s why I wanted to get to know Chris Jericho and see if Inner Circle was a good fit for me as I’m sure Christopher was trying to realize whether or not Inner Circle, me being his group was a good fit for him. And I think week after week, it’s become more and more apparent we have so much chemistry. We’re clearly fast friends, and I’m really excited to get to know more and more about my good friend Chris,” said MJF.

MJF will likely become the face of AEW in the years to come. Chris Jericho has given the wrestler a good rub, and that will help him get ahead in his wrestling career.
