Royce O'Neale is a professional basketball player who currently plays the small forward position for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. Before reaching the highest level of basketball, O'Neale had a winding road that took him through the state of Texas and overseas before finally making it in the NBA.

O'Neale was born and raised in Killeen, Texas where he attended Harker Heights High School. He was a standout on the basketball team, but did not receive much attention from college programs. He decided to stay in-state and play collegiately at the University of Denver for his first two years starting in 2011.

Looking to be closer to home to help care for his ailing grandfather, O'Neale transferred to Baylor University in 2013. After having to sit out a year per NCAA transfer rules, he was granted a special waiver to play immediately at Baylor due to his family situation.

At Baylor, O'Neale excelled on the court and quickly became a key contributor. He helped lead the Bears to two NCAA Tournament appearances in his final two collegiate seasons. After graduating from Baylor in 2015, O'Neale began his professional career overseas playing in Germany. First with Riesen Ludwigsburg in the 2015-2016 season, then with Gran Canaria in Spain for the 2016-2017 season. His strong play overseas caught the attention of NBA scouts and earned him a contract with the Utah Jazz in 2017.

O'Neale then spent six solid seasons with the Jazz, cementing himself as a versatile defensive specialist and glue guy who did all the little things to help his team win.
