Leonard was born in Scarborough, Ontario. During childhood, he was greatly interested in various sports, including volleyball, basketball and golf. Leonard initially went to Thornlea Secondary School in Thornhill, Ontario. He led his school team to win the National Junior Circuit title in March 2019.
Later, he moved to Mount Pleasant, Utah, where he joined Wasatch Academy. His playing time was limited in the Academy, so he transferred to Victory Rock Prep in Bradenton, Florida. Leonard missed many games due to a broken wrist in November 2020.
Leonard Miller played at Fort Erie International Academy in Fort Erie for a postgraduate season. He was an emerging player at that time and got no offers from any college to play college basketball. While playing at Fort Erie, Leonard was the top player of the team.
While playing at Fort Erie International Academy, Leonard caught the attention of several college programs. He got more than 25 offers to play college basketball. He guided the Academy’s team to receive an Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association title. In addition to this, he was regarded as the Most Valuable Player.
Leonard got a chance to play in the Nike Hoop Summit for the World Team. He entered the 2022 NBA draft on April 23, 2022. On May 31, 2022. He officially announced his intention to play basketball at a professional level instead of playing for any college.
On September 7, 2022, Leonard signed an agreement with the NBA G League Ignite. During the 2022-23 season, he was selected to play in the G League’s inaugural Next Up Game.
