India vs Belgium: Champions Challenge Hockey Preview

India stormed into the final of FIH Champions Challenge Hockey tournament thrashing hosts South Africa 4-2 at the Randpark Hockey Stadium on Saturday. They will meet Belgium on Sunday in the title clash. The game is scheduled to be held from 7.50 onward (IST) on Ten Sports.

As the Indian hockey team take the field on Sunday evening, the onus will be on drag-flicker Sandeep Singh who had converted two penalty corners to guide India into the final of this event. Indian fans will hope that he will be ably supported by the likes of Arjun Halappa who has shown good form in this tournament and Bharat Chetri who has been performing well for the team for quite sometime. The goalkeeper managed a brilliant one-on-one save against South Africa.

However India’s trump card will be VR Raghnath who has shown formidable form throughout this tournament and will look forward to increase his tally on Sunday evening. It was he who opened India’s account against South Africa in the 13th minute in the semis.

Belgium, on the other hand, may take the field without their front line goalie David van Rysselberghe who dislocated his shoulder during the shoot-out in the semis against Argentina.

It is going to be a Super Sunday and we may expect an exciting match with nail-biting tension keeping in mind that India had drawn with Belgium in the keenly contested encounter previously in the group stages.
