New Zealand 210/3 (20 ov)
Bangladesh 144/8 (20 ov)
New Zealand won by 66 runs.
Player of the match: Devon Conway
That would be all from this coverage of the first T20I between New Zealand and Bangladesh. But cricket action continues at Seddon Park as after the men it is time for the ladies to take the centerstage. Up next New Zealand women take on Australia women in the first of three-match T20I series. You can follow all the action from that match right here on Sportskeeda. For now, this is Prakhar Sachdeo, and on behalf of my fellow commentator Abhinav Singh, I shall take your leave. Stay safe and take good care of yourself.
Another comfortable win for the Kiwis in a T20I. And the fact that they have managed to win handsomely in the absence of their regular players makes the feat all the more important. It was a day when Devon Conway made yet another statement with the bat. The batsman continued his rich vein of form to hit 92 from 52 balls. He was given good support from debutant Will Young who hit fifty. Their batting effort meant that New Zealand were able to post 201/3 in 20 overs. Bangladesh spinner Nasum Ahmed who was also making his T20I debut was impressive as he picked up two wickets.

Chasing a huge total Bangladesh inning never got any sort of momentum as the Blackcap's bowlers kept picking up wickets. Special mention of leg spinner Ish Sodhi as he bowled a match-winning spell of 4/28. The leggie bowled two two-wicket overs to rip apart the Bangladesh middle order. Lockie Ferguson who was making his return to the New Zealand side reminded everyone about his skills as he bowled fast and banged the ball short at times. The pacer was rewarded with two wickets for his efforts. Bangladesh batting was disappointing but Afif Hossain showed some fight as he made 45 from 33 balls but with other batsmen faltering his fight went in vain.
Mahmudullah, Bangladesh captain:  It was quite tough. Once again we have left ourselves down in the batting department. He (Conway) is in good form. We had a chance in one game to get his wicket. It was a good score to chase. A few more boundaries would have helped. As I have said we cannot afford to make the same mistake again and again.

Tim Southee, New Zealand captain: It was a nice effort. Will Young has been around for some time. It was pleasing to see Will perform and Devon also played well. There are a few players who are knocking on the door so that is a good sign for New Zealand cricket. It was pleasing to see Lockie Ferguson bowl as it is not easy to come back from an injury.
Devon Conway is the Player of the Match.

Devon Conway: Pretty happy with the way things panned out. Happy with the results. Happy with some good partnerships. A good partnership with Will Young. It is about watching the ball. Rest takes care of itself. Sometimes against the spinner when I am trying to sweep or reverse sweep behind the square I have to be watchful.
New Zealand win by 66 runs to go 1-0 in the three-match series.
Over: 20 | Summary: 6 0 0 0 0 4 Bowler: Daryl Mitchell Score: 144/8
19.6 Daryl Mitchell to Mohammad Saifuddin, FOUR! STREAKY! Black caps win by 66 runs! Overpitched ball bowled outside off. Saif reaches for this one, ends up getting the outside edge of the bat as the ball sails over the short third man fielder and trickles down to the fence for a boundary! Too little, too late from Bangladesh though, one would reckon!
19.5 Daryl Mitchell to Mohammad Saifuddin, short of length delivery banged into the track on the outside off line. Saif still deep in the crease tries to tonk the ball on up but only manages to connect with fresh Hamilton air
19.4 Daryl Mitchell to Mohammad Saifuddin, back of length delivery going away from the batsman. Saif on the backfoot clubs the ball powerfully, but straight to the cover point fielder
19.3 Daryl Mitchell to Mohammad Saifuddin, back of length delivery dug into the pitch on offstump. Saif tries to hoick the ball on up to onside but cannot make any contact
19.2 Daryl Mitchell to Mohammad Saifuddin, wide yorker length delivery on the offstump. Saif is too far away from the line of the ball. As a result, he doesn't even try to take a swipe at it
19.1 Daryl Mitchell to Mohammad Saifuddin, SIX! SMOKED! fuller length ball on the wide offstump line. Saif throws the kitchen sink at this one. Fetches the ball from offstump and plants it over the long on fence for a MAXIMUM!
Daryll Mitchell to bowl the last over.
A wicket and a run from the over. Thanks to a stunning catch from Martin Guptill, Hamish Bennett too finishes with a wicket to his name.
Over: 19 | Summary: W 0 0 0 1 0 Bowler: Hamish Bennett Score: 134/8
18.6 Hamish Bennett to Nasum Ahmed, slow back of length delivery banged into the pitch. Ahmed is deceived by the pace as he chips the ball uppishly back to Guptill at short third man for no run
18.5 Hamish Bennett to Mohammad Saifuddin, low fulltoss on middle and legstump. Saif moves across his stumps and thumps the ball to the vacant deep midwicket region for a single
18.4 Hamish Bennett to Mohammad Saifuddin, another yorker length delivery bowled in the blockhole. Saif jams his bat down in time to stop the ball from clattering into his middlestump
18.3 Hamish Bennett to Mohammad Saifuddin, yorker length ball on the legstump, Saif can only manage to dig it out from the comfort of his crease, back to the bowler
18.2 Hamish Bennett to Mohammad Saifuddin, fuller length ball on middle and legstump. Saif absolutely murders this one back to the non-striker's stumps. Good fielding from NZ's 12th man there
