Sydney Sixers 186/5 after 20 overs, Sydney Thunders win the match by 46 runs.

A total of anything beyond 200 is always tough to chase and it was no different for Sydney Sixers in this match. Their leading run-scorer of the season, Josh Philippe, was out in just the fifth over of the chase after scoring just 20. Once Philippe walked back, Sixers slowed down in the chase and were never in hunt of what could have been a record chase. Moises Henriques got a fifty and Jordan Silk got a forty but there was no valuable contribution from other batsmen. As a result, the Sixers fell short by 46 runs. Tanveer Sangha continued to impress as he picked two wickets. Brendan Doggett and Ben Cutting picked up a wicket each. Other Sixers' bowlers did a fine job in drying up the runs to help their side win this Sydney derby.

Earlier in the day after winning the toss, Sydney Sixers skipper Daniel Hughes opted to bowl first. But his plan has backfired as Sydney Thunders have finished with a monumental total of 232/5, the highest total this season and their highest total in the league. The star of the show for Thunders was Alex Hales as he smashed nine fours and eight sixes on his way to his first BBL hundred. His 110 is his highest score in BBL. The Englishmen clobbered the ball all around the park. He was well supported by Sydney Thunder captain Callum Ferguson who played a valuable knock of 42. Sam Billings and Ben Cuttings, both made quickfire 33 to help Thunders to a total beyond 200.

Not much was there to write home about as far as the bowling from Sydney Sixers was concerned. Ben Dwarshuis was the pick of the bowlers as he finished with three wickets against his name.

Over: 20 | Summary: 1 W 1 1lb 0 1 Bowler: Brendan Doggett Score: 186/5
19.6 Brendan Doggett to Carlos Brathwaite, overpitched, in the slot for Brathwaite as he goes deep in his crease and creams that one through the extra cover and the long-off fielder cuts it off as they run a single but it's the Thunder who have been brilliant with bat and ball. Alex Hales has been magnificent for them and scores his first BBL hundred!
19.5 Brendan Doggett to Carlos Brathwaite, short delivery into Brathwaite on the outside off as he goes for the pull and misses, dot ball!
19.4 Brendan Doggett to Dan Christian, full delivery on the leg stump and on the pads as Christian looked to whip that one away but misses, raps on the pads in the end as they scamper through for a leg-bye!
19.3 Brendan Doggett to Carlos Brathwaite, OH! Short delivery, hurried on to Brathwaite who loses his shape while pulling that one and late on the shot too as he manages to hit it towards square leg for a single
19.2 Brendan Doggett to Jordan Silk, OUT! TIMBER! Back of a length on the off stump line as Silk goes for the hoick and misses, goes through the defense and it crashes on to the off stump in the end. Good innings from Silk comes to an end!
