Fabricio Andrade recalls powering through broken hand in career-defining win vs. John Lineker: “It was an amazing sensation”

At ONE Fight Night 16, Fabricio Andrade is set to return to action for another must-watch main event clash.

On November 3, the bantamweight MMA world champion will look to become a two-sport world titleholder when he competes for the vacant ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship.

Standing in his way at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium will be the bantamweight Muay Thai champ, Jonathan Haggerty. Between them, the two men produced two of the best performances of the year under the ONE Championship banner.

Whilst ‘The General’ shocked the world in dethroning Nong-O Hama with a stunning first-round knockout over the dominant champion, Andrade finally reached the top of the bantamweight division.

At ONE Fight Night 7, in his rematch with the former champ John Lineker, ‘Wonder Boy’ left no room for debate this time around with another destructive performance. Stopping his fellow Brazilian late on in the contest, Andrade achieved his dream of becoming a world champion before setting his sights on more gold and even bigger challenges.

Once again showcasing his sniper-like striking, fans will now get to see how he matches up against one of the best Muay Thai fighters in the world as both men venture into kickboxing.

In a recent interview with FightWave, Fabricio Andrade reflected on his crowning moment from earlier this year and the adversity he had to face in order to become the bantamweight MMA world champion:

“It was a very hard fight, I broke my hand on the second fight as well, it was very tough. But when the fight finally ended and I knew I was the world champion, it was like an amazing feeling. It was an amazing sensation you know, and I was just like very just relieved that it was finally over.”
