"I'm geeked": R&B singer Kehlani expresses excitement over Golden State Valkyries after block party performance

The Golden State Valkyries are the latest addition to the WNBA. They will be the 13th team in the league and start their season next year. Like every California native, R&B singer Kehlani is geeking over her new WNBA home team.

As a part of the league's expansion, the addition of the Valkyries came with the announcement that Toronto got the rights for the next (14th) franchise in the WNBA.

The "After Hours" singer was asked about the newest addition to the league and getting a team in her home.

"Beyond being excited for today. … As a fan of women’s basketball, I'm geeked. I'm beyond geeked," Kehlani said (via ESPN).

Golden State Valkyries are affiliated with the Golden State Warriors and are owned by Joe Lacob. The team will start playing in the 2025 season at Chase Center.

Interestingly, when the Valkyries dropped the commercial video for the team, Kehlani narrated the thrilling video herself. The video and the singer received a lot of praise from fans across social media.

The American singer has been a longtime WNBA fan and performed at the 2023 WNBA All-Star Game. She was also the main attraction for the Valkyries' block party last week at Thrive City outside Chase Center.

Kehlani also showed interest in which players the Valkyries should draft. When asked which player the team should pick next season, she said Paige Bueckers.

“I’mma say Paige Bueckers," Kehlani said. "Be on the right side of history, Paige."

Golden State Valkyries release their merchandise line

Shortly after announcing their addition to the WNBA, the Golden State Valkyries released their team merchandise for their new fanbase. The new line of products for the latest team is available for purchase online as well as in-store in Thrive City in San Francisco.

The team has released a different clothing line, including team bomber jackets, sweaters, hoodies, shirts and t-shirts. The unisex bomber jacket is available for $199.99, while the sweaters and hoodies are available for as much as $149.99.

The clothing line also has a women's jacket available for $109.99. Some other available items are unisex t-shirts for $59.99 and team shirts for $34.99. Moreover, the clothing line is also available for kids and babies.
