4 Of the biggest botches and mistakes this week in wrestling (October 22-27)

Crown Jewel is merely days away and it appears that much of the last week's build-up had been centred around WWE's trip to the Middle East. The likes of Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, and Tyson Fury have been welcomed to the company ahead of their participation on the show while Cain Velasquez has signed a contract ahead of the match and will remain a part of WWE for the next few years.

RAW failed to feature any female wrestlers this week since the women are still not permitted to wrestle in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, despite the WWE trying hard to include them in the show back in June.

The fact that many WWE stars are focused on Saudi Arabia at present means that they could have overlooked RAW and SmackDown this week, which always leads to botches. AEW was in the same boat as they continued to build towards Full Gear and subsequently, there were a few interesting botches on Dynamite.

#4 The referee didn't see the tag

AEW has changed a lot of rules in wrestling ever since the company debuted on the scene around a year ago. The fact that tag teams now have a ten count and that Cody Rhodes is allowed to use his belt as a weapon in matches, are two of the things that fans have adapted to.

That being said, the referee still needs to uphold the rules and a big rule in tag matches is that if the referee doesn't see the tag, then it isn't counted. Many teams have used this to their advantage over the years, but this week on Dynamite, Aubrey Edwards allowed the match to continue and didn't even ask him to get out of the ring, despite not seeing Evil Uno tag in.

#3 Sin Cara just fell over?

Sin Cara botched a number of times in his match with Andrade this week on Raw

Andrade was moved over to RAW as part of the WWE Draft last week and it's obvious that the former NXT Champion is looking to make some kind of an impact this time around. There was a rumor that Vince McMahon was looking at him to win the Royal Rumble match earlier this year after he was able to impress the WWE Chairman, but that backing seems to have been lost over the past few months and now Andrade, with the help of his business associate Zelina Vega, is looking to get it back.

This past week on RAW, he took on Sin Cara in what was a high flying match from both men. But, even though there was a lot of room for error throughout the match, the only botch came when Sin Cara managed to fall over after a body slam. It was a strange botch since a body slam is one of the more standard moves in wrestling but Sin Cara managed to botch it as his reputation for mistakes in the ring continued.

#2 Andrade is a fruit?

Humberto had a hilarious slip up this week on Raw

This one definitely wins the prize for funniest botch of the week, as Humberto Carrillo was looking to make a name for himself following his move over to RAW in the recent WWE Draft. Carrillo was interviewed backstage and he began talking about other superstars and stated that Andrade is a future Universal Champion.

Sadly for Humberto, he tripped over the word future and instead he ended up saying that 'Andrade was a fruit', before continuing with what he was supposed to say and ending the promo as if nothing had gone wrong.

Humberto put on a fantastic show later in the night against Seth Rollins after the Universal Champion found him backstage and challenged him to a match. Humberto may have come up short against Rollins but he showed that he was a force to be reckoned with in the WWE locker room.

Despite the performance though, he would sadly be remembered for his slip of tongue when the WWE Universe looks back on his first day on RAW and the impact he was able to make on the main roster.

#1 Where were you, Sonya?

Sonya Deville missed her cue

The women weren't given a match this week on RAW, so the women on SmackDown took centre stage and were able to put on a great match as Mandy Rose took on number one contender Nikki Cross with SmackDown Women's Champion, Bayley and Sasha Banks on commentary.

Sonya Deville also made her way to the ring to stand at ringside and watch her best friend, Mandy Rose secure victory. It was obvious that Deville was there for a reason and that became clearer throughout the match when she managed to miss her spot.

Nikki looked for a sliding kick on Deville mid-way through the match but Deville was miles away, thus, making Cross look extremely silly. A few seconds later, it seemed that Deville remembered that she had a spot and called for Nikki to come and kick her again and this time the latter managed to make contact.

Deville has recently become a featured face on Total Divas where she has talked about wanting an opportunity in WWE. But, when she makes simple botches of such kind, it's easy to see why the WWE continues to overlook the former MMA star.
