While the rumor mills are on full throttle claiming Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan are favorites to win the Rumble, there are some dark horses who have a legitimate chance at claiming a big milestone in their career. Sure, Ambrose doesn’t have the look of Reigns or the rabid popularity of Bryan but he is certainly much more interesting than them as a character and he is the only young star in the roster who has been able to garner ample amount of popularity. No wonder, Pro Wrestling Illutrated named him the most popular star of the past year. Here are 5 reasone why he should win the Rumble.

#5 The way he\'s been booked lately

The way Ambrose has been booked lately has done nothing to build Ambrose any sort of momentum. He is on a stagnant phase and he’s selling his knee injury following his clean loss to Wyatt. Now, that may be an indication that his injury will prevent him from winning the Rumble. he isn’t a 100 percent and in the end that will be his Achilles heel.

But, but, BUT

This might be the unpredictablity that WWE might want to bring to the fore. Sure, there are sects which support a Reigns victory or a Bryan victory. So it will be something to be excited about if Ambrose wins. That will bring him back to the main event, back to more screen time and promo time. And towards the Road To Wrestlemania, there is a chance that we’ll see more of that tremendous promo skills that he’s known for.

#4 Redemption

Ambrose will walk into the Rumble with a story. He’s a man who has been called unstable and a lunatic fringe. A man who’s called out for being more gutsy than smart. And he’s a man who’s lost all his important matches. A Rumble victory will not only increase his momentum, it will also make the main event look really fresh. For the first time, a young superstar will be in the limelight so much towards the Road to Wrestlemania. And if he’s there, consider management’s favorite Reigns and the best wrestling heel in the company, Seth Rollins, to be near that space as well.

And we may finally have a Reigns vs Ambrose Vs Rollins main event for Mania.

#3 The history of injuries

Daniel Bryan is one person who has come back after nursing many injuries, some of them career-threatening. Reigns has also made his return from a hernia injury which was also called to be career threatening. Ambrose on the other hand has fought in countless matches which are ‘extreme’ by WWE’s PG standards and he’s been on the road continuously. Yet, he’s still there. Injuries are a major roadblock and that is not taking away from the fact that Reigns is the management’s face of the company and Bryan is a big draw. And I am not saying that Ambrose is not prone to injuries.

But Ambrose is someone whom, casual fans can trust to be there even if he’s going through chairs, ladders, tables or falling off a running car etcetra. He has developed a personality of getting back up from whatever he’s gone through and also selling nagging injuries.

#2 The little things he does

Watch an Ambrose match and notice all his antics. Essentially, observe only him in his matches and you’ll see that every single thing that he does has some meaning or the other. He’s not just looking at his opponent aggresively, he’s actually able to sell the story that is being played out in the ring. No matter whatever little story he’s given, whatever little material he’s made to speak or do, he deals with it pretty well.

He was always considered a natural heel and now he’s a babyface who does not pander to sweet talk and virtuous behaviour. He is someone who inhabits the role of an anti-hero really well and that isn’t a role almost anyone could play.

#1 His popularity

When it comes to popularity, there isn’t anyone who’s had the kind of rise that Ambrose has had. He started his singles journey in June 2014 after Rollin’s betrayal and then as soon as the end of that month, he was getting major reactions. His interferences were met with unanimous cheers from the crowd. Both Rollins and Ambrose were playing their roles so well that management had them main event Hell In A Cell on the same night that had Orton Vs Cena.

Bryan has main evented Wrestlemania. Reigns holds the most elimination in a Royal Rumble and he’s majorly protected. He will make his way into the main event at Wrestlemania in some way, Rollins is most probably a champion in waiting with his MITB.

That leaves Ambrose being the only person with no such milestone or possesion. There are some winners for whom winning the Rumble doesn’t really do anything. Sheamus, Del Rio are some examples. A championship or possesion doesn’t make a wrestler. A wrestler makes those possessions or milestones worthwhile to have.

Ambrose has that persona and the WWE should cash in on that.
