The Green Arrow takes a leap

The Winner Takes AllWell, let’s get this little fact out there first- NXT Takeover was better than Summerslam. Yes it was. But to Summerslam’s credit the PPV got better as it went on. The main event had its moments and there were a few surprises that will be dealt with on Raw. The night ended on a controversial note but quite often in this industry controversy means cash.It wasn’t the best Summerslam or a Summerslam for the ages but it will be remembered for a few good things because a few performers and storylines did live up to its high expectations. Here are the five biggest winners from this year’s Summerslam-

#5 Stephen Amell

The Green Arrow takes a leap

The Green Arrow and The Red Arrow pulled off a victory in a feud that has been pleasantly surprising so far. The build up has developed all the characters pretty well, especially Stardust.

And Amell gets the distinction for being one of the best celebrities to grace the realm of WWE. He performed better than expected and he’ll be welcome in the future by the company and the fans alike.

And maybe he’s a future celebrity Hall of Famer

#4 Kevin Owens

Owens won on Sunday inspite of losing on Saturday.

He really needed this victory. Hes been on the losing side for quite sometime. And then there were rumors that the company already has issues with his body. Reports of fat shaming came around a few weeks back.

But at Summerslam, Owens fought Cesaro in one of the better matches of the night and 24 hours after competing in a hellacious match at Takeover, Owens managed to win clean.

Thats some awesome repo for this heel who plays the character so, so well.

#3 Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins-The Highlight Reel

It was an incredible match with a somewhat confusing finish. Even Jon Stewart seemed confused with the timing of his attack on Cena.

But this match was showered with nostalgia. Rollins debuted an all white gear with golden borders. There would have been a Dusty Rhodes influence there. Rollins also did a Frog Splash, an ode to Eddie Guerrero. And then Cena locked Rollins in a Figure 4 Leglock. Wooo!

Rollins made the match exciting by executing many high flying moves. Two suicide dives and two phoenix splashes were just some of the moves that he performed. He also did a better John Cena move than John Cena himself.

And just when we thought it won’t happen, it happened. Rollins is now the new US Champion.

#2 Undertaker

The Deadman won despite tapping out first.

He was playing heel and he won like a heel in true controversial fashion. The timekeeper rang the bell after he saw The Undertaker tap out to the Kimura Lock. The referee did not see it. The referee was enraged at the timekeeper for jumping the chain of command and ringing the bell without the referee telling him to.

The Undertaker had tapped, away from the referee’s field of view.

But then he hit Lesnar with a low blow and that was followed with a Hell’s gate. Lesnar fought but he was rendered unconscious.

Undertaker has gained his redemption by hook or crook.

#1 Brock Lesnar

Still not slain.

There is no biggest winner from Summerslam than the Beast Incarnate. He’s the rightful successor to the badassery that Stone Cold Steve Austin was known for. Lesnar is an out and out anti- hero. He doesn’t cheat and he sure as heck does not tap out. Lesnar would rather flip the bird than tap out to Taker who won by luck and some unfair luck at that.

Lesnar made The Deadman visit Suplex City and mocked his iconic, signature way of sitting up.

He even bled for the match.

This was much, much better than their Wrestlemania encounter. And just like Stone Cold in his match against Bret Hart at WM 13, Lesnar did not tap out.
