5 matches at WrestleMania 31 to keep an eye out for

The Mania for WrestleMania has begun. We are a fortnight away from the biggest event in the WWE calendar. This 31st edition of the annual PPV has got a unique blend of matches that would drive the WWE universe crazy and mad. WM 31 looks promising with some interesting matches on the card. The WWE Universe is set to witness career-defining moments, shockers, upsets, heel-turns and dominant victories. With a unique mix of matches that drench the WWE Universe with loads of entertainment and thrill, let us have a look at 5 such matches to watch for at WM 31.

#5 IC Title ladder match:

WrestleMania 31 has a ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship. The storyline for this match dates back to FastLane PPV. Wade Barrett walked away from the IC Championship match against Ambrose and retained the title. Dean Ambrose took away the title with him and over the weeks, the legitimate Champ Barrett was never in possession of the title. It changed hands among Ambrose, Harper, Ziggler, R-Truth and Barrett.

Bryan was never in the IC title match but last week on Smack Down he shocked the WWE universe by stating that he was also a part of the IC title match at WM. He joins 6 other superstars in- Dolph Ziggler, Luke Harper, Stardust, R-Truth, Dean Ambrose and the Champion, Wade Barrett. This 7 men ladder match will add a lot of flavour to the PPV especially with Daniel Bryan in the match.

It’s quite interesting to see who wins the match and how the WWE creative team would deal with Daniel Bryan. Some questions to be answered heading into this match are-

What would it be for Bryan if he wins the title?

A surprise win for someone like a Harper or Stardust!

An expected win for someone like Ziggler or Ambrose.

Finally, yet another reign for Barrett which is higly unlikely.

#4 Cena vs Rusev (US title match) // Randy Ortons Challenge to Rollins:

Last week on RAW, Cena made Rusev tap out and earned a US title match against Rusev at WrestleMania 31. Cena lost to Rusev at FastLane and claimed a rematch, two weeks before on RAW. But Rusev never agreed to his proposal and Cena earned it on his own.

Cena, heading into this match is representing USA and is on the hunt for the US title and also to end the undefeated streak of the big Russian. There are a lot of questions about the inclusion of the US title into the scenario but the creative team have their own plans. It’s quite interesting to see Cena ending the streak of Rusev on the grandest stage and become the first man to beat Rusev. It is a Career vs Streak match as far as Cena is concerned.

Cena losing to Rusev at WrestleMania is the worst thing that can happen to Cena and it would be one of the greatest upsets in Mania history. Always have an eye out for these surprises.

One more controversy brewing in the WWE is between Randy Orton and Seth Rollins. Orton’s heel turn last Monday night on RAW, his brutal attack on Rollins after the match and his statement to challenge Rollins this week on RAW for a match at WM 31 have gained a lot of prominence. It would be interesting to see the response of Rollins and a match between two former members of ‘The Authority’ at WrestleMania is one thing every WWE fan ardently desires for. If Rollins could somehow defeat Orton that would be disastrous for Randy. So, Randy needs to take care of Seth, J&J and the rest of 'The Authority' to win over Rollins.

#3 Triple H vs Sting

The storyline for this match dates back to Survivor Series. ‘The Authority’ is on the verge of a victory when Sting appeared out of nowhere. The WWE Universe was shocked at the sight of Sting and he shocked everyone even more by helping ‘Team Cena’ to win the match. This left Triple H and Stephanie dumbstruck and they were temporarily out of the administration duty. Later, after their return Triple H asked Sting for a confrontation at FastLane to resolve their differences and settle the issues once and for all.

Sting accepted the proposal and they had a face-face confrontation at FastLane and a match was set up between the two at WrestleMania. It’s quite interesting to see how HHH heads into this match, being out of in-ring action and as the COO of the company. It would also be interesting to watch Sting for the first time in the WWE ring.

Will the WCW icon conquer the WWE bigwig?

Will the cerebral assassin wash the paint off Sting’s face?

Sting losing his very first WWE match is a surprising scenario. Triple H could get the support of 'The Authority' and mess things up and win over Sting! But how good is that to the business?? There is always a surprise element when Hunter is in the ring. Hopefully, the WWE fans hope that the Icon won’t let that happen...

#2 Bray Wyatt vs The Undertaker

Two most bizarre WWE superstars in the same ring at WrestleMania 31. Bray Wyatt has been busy composing cryptic messages directed at The Undertaker over the past few weeks.

Last week on Raw, he went further ahead by bringing the Undertaker’s urn and challenged the Phenom for a match at WrestleMania. Bray was the self-proclaimed “New Face of Fear.” The Undertaker responded in his typical Phenom style and accepted the challenge.

It would be interesting to see Undertaker back on the WrestleMania card, keeping in mind the fact that his streak has ended.

Would this be a farewell match for the phenom to end his career on a winning note? Would this be a starting point for Wyatt to establish his career?

The Undertaker making a comeback after the streak being conquered and going 21-2 is something that would shock the WWE Universe to the core. It is time for Bray to establish himself in the business strongly but does it happen at the expense of the dominance of Taker is something of a surprising scenario to be watched out for!

#1 Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns

The question on the mind of every WWE fan is- Who would win the title from Lesnar?

Hopefully, the answer could be found at WrestleMania 31. Brock Lesnar is set to defend his WWE WHC against the winner of the 2015 Royal Rumble, Superstar of the year-2014 and the Power House, Roman Reigns.

Reigns has been dominant ever since his debut his WWE and he climbed the WWE ladder so quickly. A championship reign for Reigns is not far away. There has been a lot of talk about Reigns inability to defeat Lesnar, Lesnar quitting the company and so on. Whatever is the case, the bout between these two would definitely be interesting and a lot of possible outcomes for this match have already been predicted.

The WWE Universe could anticipate some surprise results for this match. Seth Rollins could cash-in the MITB contract and Rollins could be crowned the champion. A dominant Roman Reigns victory could also be eye-catching. With rumours about the script being leaked for this match, the WWE fans are looking for answers and their answers are not far away!
