WWE Monday Night Raw : 21 July 2014 - Superstar Ratings

WWE shifted their attention from Battleground to SummerSlam this week on Raw as they delivered some strong segments which gave the fans a trailer of the things that they could expect at summers biggest event. The in ring action didnt have much of a say this week as it was the segments which stole the show. The match between Dean Ambrose and Cesaro was the only exception from that as the two superstars gave a solid match though the ending was a bit abrupt.Brock Lesnars return and Stephanie McMahon getting arrested were the other high points of the night while Roman Reigns continued his rise to the top by winning a handicap match. And here is a look at how things turned out with the Superstar ratings for the week.

#15 Zack Ryder 4

To be frank, it was one of those great matches from Ryder. However, it’s not every day that you see him getting a win on Raw. He even struggles to find a place in the match card at times and a win over Fandango amidst all that is actually a miracle no matter how it came.

#14 Rusev 5

Rusev delivered a class performance at Battleground when he faced off against Jack Swagger but when it came to Raw, he ended up giving one of the worst matches of the year. Khali is a former world champion and a big guy, but wrestling is long gone from this resume which is something that WWE should realize before they book matches.

#13 Bo Dallas 5.5

Another win came for the inspirational superstar which extended his undefeated streak at the expense of Damien Sandow. WWE hesitating to push the character seriously despite being over with the fans is a concern however on the longer run for Bo.

#12 AJ Lee 5.5

After a long time, AJ is completely on the face side now after Paige turned heel. The win against Natalya and Emma was good though it got overshadowed by the post-match incidents. AJ now could play the role that she was longing for and the divas division has a good match heading to SummerSlam.

#11 The Miz 6

Miz was supposed to be shot back into relevance after the title win at Battleground and it was just that when he faced Ziggler on Raw. The result didn’t go as the Awesome one could’ve liked but from a character point of view, Miz made progress this week even though he lost.

#10 Paige 6

The heel turn of Paige couldn’t have come any better way as she delivered an intense performance on Raw. She was ruthless in her attack and made the fans jeer for her which apparently is a big achievement for a diva in WWE at this stage.

#9 Kane 6.5

The big red monster wanted to have a title shot against Cena at SummerSlam but ended up looking like a joke once Lesnar came and stole the show. As things stand now, Kane is having no feud heading to the pay-per-view which is a sad thing considering how much he has contributed to the company.

#8 Wyatt Family 6.5

Back stage attack of Jericho was text book stuff from the Wyatt Family as this was something that the fans have seen many times. The promo that Bray delivered after that wasn’t special as well if the highlight reel part was taken away rounding off a forgettable week for the creepy guys.

#7 Dolph Ziggler 6.5

After being the runner up of last night’s battle royal, Ziggler got a chance to prove that he deserved to win the title when he went against Miz. And the win capped off a good week for the Show off who can now challenge Miz in near future for a title bout.

#6 Cesaro 6.5

Cesaro was pushed back into the crowd at Battleground but he showed the WWE Universe that his in ring skills makes him standout. It was a good match for Cesaro, but the company still has things to sort out when it comes to his long term future.

#5 Stephanie McMahon 7

Stephanie once again showed that she got all the genes that her father has. The angle that Stephanie had with Brie turned out to be one of the most talked moments of the night and the company would show no hesitation whatsoever in pushing the angle forward.

#4 Randy Orton 7

The Viper seemed to be the authority’s choice for challenging Cena until Lesnar came out. The friction with Kane cost him the match earlier in the night and an attack from Reigns didn’t do anything good for the second generation as he saw a bad week unfold.

#3 Roman Reigns 7.5

Reigns was given another strong booking by the WWE after Battleground when he defeated both Kane and Orton in a handicap match. Before that he delivered a good promo as well against Hunter and his pack which showed that he is showing great improvement in the department.

#2 Brock Lesnar 7.5

Lesnar made his big return and took over things from where he left after ending Undertaker’s streak. Heyman as usual pulled of a strong promo to boost his client and it could’ve ended up getting a higher rating if Cena was involved in some kind of angle with the beast.

#1 Dean Ambrose 8

Ambrose was out there to unload all his frustrations of not getting Rollins at Battleground. The match between Cesaro and Ambrose was sure to be a stellar one and didn’t disappoint as well. Ending of the match made WWE’s intentions clear on where they are going with Ambrose as he almost destroyed Cesaro.
