WWE Monday Night Raw Preview: 29 December, 2014

Verizon Center in Washington, DC will host to the last Monday Night Raw of 2014. It has been a chaotic year for the company on business grounds and they will be looking to close it off with a bang so that they could pick up easily when they roll out the carpets next year. There hasnt been any match booked for the show so far but the things that happened around in the live shows have given the fans a lot to cheer about.Potential Surprise returns and some nostalgia filled guest hosts would be the primary attraction of this weeks Raw as there is nothing else out there. The buildup for Royal Rumble is nowhere near complete and here is a look at some of the possible efforts that WWE could make on the latest edition of their flagship show.

#1 Who goes where?

We might still be weeks away from Royal Rumble, but that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve to know who all participates in the Battle Royal. So far, Roman Reigns is the only confirmed name for the match while there are 29 more places to be filled.

Now, there are going to be some surprise entrants that need not be disclosed but the company should at least let us know whether the lights of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Rusev or Ryback will be in the match or not.

All these men are having different feuds that are yet to find a place in the Rumble match card. So if Vince is not going to let them have singles matches, the best way would be to improve the star power of the Rumble match.

#2 Dreams of the Internet

Dolph Ziggler is one of the most decorated names in front of the Internet wrestling fans. They always cry out to see him get pushed and one has to say that Ziggler deserves it as well.

However, WWE always doesn’t seem keen about the same. They’ve been wasting Ziggler for a long time, but that changed recently as they decided to make him the stand out performer in Survivor Series. Ziggler has been getting impressive wins ever since and he needs to take the next step now.

The feud with Harper produced some great matches for the fans, but Ziggler needs something new. There are a handful of candidates who could fill in the spot and also, there is a possibility of multiple superstars going in for the Intercontinental Championship.

#3 Rollins into the title scene?

Seth Rollins will most probably get an angle if Randy Orton makes his return before Royal Rumble. But what if the company decides to invest Orton elsewhere? Its a question that needs to be addressed as the next best thing for Rollins would be entering the title scenario.

WWE would have no trouble making it a triple threat match between Rollins Cena and Lesnar at the Rumble with the briefcase in between provides some guaranteed action.

The Heyman Rollins handshake will be another subplot if WWE choses this path. Considering the number of matches that Rollins have been involved with Cena in the past couple of months, it wouldnt be much of a surprise to see Rollins being pushed into the title scenario this week.

#4 Some Bad News and a Viper

Bad News Barrett and Randy Orton made their unannounced return to the WWE squared circle in a live show last week. It wasnt necessarily a great way to reintroduce two big names back into the programming but now that its done, lets just look forward rather than cursing the past.

Orton and Barrett coming back into the scene is a big boost for WWE but the big reveal on a big show is yet to come. Raw looks set to be the stage for the same and the way in which WWE would bring these two back makes matter interesting.

The Viper is most probably going to lock horns with Seth Rollins from the looks of it while a great feud with Dolph Ziggler might be in place for Barrett, who would love to get his Intercontinental championship back.

#5 Wave of nostalgia from the Ruthless Aggression Era

There were rumors of Edge and Christian appearing as guest general managers on Raw that followed TLC, but that didn’t happen much to the disappointment of the fans.

WWE looks set to solve that problem by bringing out the legendary tag team this time around. Edge and Christian have been advertised for some house shows that follow this week’s Raw and this almost makes it certain about the duo making an appearance on Monday Night.

Seeing two of the most decorated names from the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Era would clearly be a treat for the old fans. WWE could bank in big time on the nostalgia factor as well and hide some of the flaws that they are guaranteed to make.
