One of the New York Mets' best additions of the offseason was Kodai Senga, and fans already love what they are seeing from him. The season's start is still months away, but we are getting our first glimpse of players working out with their teams in preparation. It was a busy offseason for the Mets, who have a record-setting payroll for the 2023 season and the high expectations that go along with it.

Senga could easily be the best signing the team made this offseason if he lives up to his potential. He was the top starting pitcher overseaseas, achieving an astonishing ERA of 1.89 in 2022. If Kodai Senga is able to translate that success to the MLB, he will be one of the league's top pitchers.

SNY Mets shared a clip of Senga throwing, and looking cool doing it, on Twitter.

The New York Mets are built to win it all in 2023, and their pitching staff is a huge part of why. They lost Jacob deGrom but added Justin Verlander, pairing him with Max Scherzer. That should be one of the best duos in the MLB. Then you add Kodai Senga and his potential and their chances drastically go up.

Mets fans are no strangers to heartbreak, but they can't help themselves but get excited for the season. Owner Steve Cohen has spared no expense in building a lineup that can challenge the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves in the National League East. If Kodai Senga lives up to fan hopes, the trio of starting pitchers will be without comparison.

We are seeing more and more players come in from professional leagues overseas and find immediate success in the big leagues. Shohei Ohtani is the most obvious example, along with Seiya Suzuki with the Chicago Cubs. Senga could be the next star that is just waiting to ascend.

The New York Mets are reaching for a championship in 2023, and Kodai Senga will be a crucial part of the team.

Senga's ability to make the transition to the big leagues will be vital. A different league will present many different challenges that the Mets need him to overcome.

Kodai Senga putting in the work with the team very early is a great sign that he will be an asset to the New York Mets right off the bat.
