Extreme Rules 2015 : Early predictions for the pay-per-view

WrestleMania 31 is wrapped up and the next pay-per-view stop for the WWE will be for Extreme Rules. The show will be held at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois on April 26 and WWE will be entitled with the big task of following up WrestleMania. The social media is buzzing about how WrestleMania 31 was one of the best shows in recent history and making something similar at Extreme Rules would be just like walking through fire. The post – WrestleMania period looks solid from what we saw at the pay-per-view and if Vince McMahon pulls all the right strings, Extreme Rules would be a good start to WrestleMania 32.Living up to the name of the pay-per-view will be another big headache for the company and here is a look at some of the possible matches we could see at this year’s Extreme Rules.

#7 Paige vs. AJ Lee vs. Nikki Bella (Divas Championship)

The divas division had its fair share of time at WrestleMania 31. All four divas gave out their best effort and ended up with a memorable match that made the entire division proud. Paige and AJ were on the same page throughout the pay-per-view but we all know about the underlying tension between the two.

The relationship between AJ and Paige is a ticking time bomb and it would only be a matter of time before it explodes. Since the two had numerous one on one pay-per-view matches in the past, WWE would not want to give them another one and Nikki’s divas championship should be in the mix to solve this problem.

A triple threat is the best option and if WWE decides to turn Brie at some point, we could have a fatal four way as well for the Divas championship.

#6 Randy Orton vs. Rusev

Okay, this might not sound like a great idea as things stand now but think about it. Randy Orton is fresh from his feud with Seth Rollins and is not going to get a shot at the WWE Championship any time soon. Rusev meanwhile lost his United States Championship to Cena and will not win it back in the near future.

These two will have trouble finding a new feud in the post –WrestleMania period and the best thing WWE could do is put them together. Rusev could put over Orton at the pay-per-view and make him ready for a title feud with Rollins or any other big feud.

It is a bit unfair to Rusev but if we go by the history, Rusev probably has only a few months ahead of him before the company turns him into a comedy act or a jobber.

#5 Miz vs. Mizdow

The plug on Miz and Mizdow was pulled in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal at WrestleMania.

Mizdow went on to eliminate Miz from the match and it is sure to act as the spark plug for their feud. The whole stunt double character has been responsible for some entertaining angles in the past and what WWE plans to do with Mizdow in the coming weeks is a mystery.

Are they going to let him keep the Hollywood gimmick or are they going to repackage him? Either way, we are going to see a match between the former tag team partners at Extreme Rules and Mizdow will be the favorite to walk out as the winner because he needs a win more than Miz needs it.

#4 Big Show vs. Ryback

One of the feuds that sprouted at WrestleMania was the one between Rusev and Big Show. Both men had a heated exchange in between the Andre the Giant Battle Royal and from the looks of it, the feud has only started.

Now that Big Show won the Trophy, he will need a credible feud to go forward and Ryback is the perfect choice.

Ryback could be put over at the expense of Show at the pay-per-view and WWE could bring back the push that the big guy once had. It might not be an exciting outing as the other matches on the list but for the sake of narrative, WWE should make Show look strong after the win at Mania.

#3 Sheamus vs. John Cena (United States Championship)

Sheamus was rumored to return at WrestleMania but his return was apparently delayed for some reason.

He is however expected to come back on the Raw after WrestleMania and is also expected to be a full blown heel. On the other hand, there is John Cena, a man who just won the WWE United States Championship and is looking for a solid opponent to defend his title.

The two pieces fit in perfectly like a puzzle and WWE should bank in on the feud. It is a multi-pay-per-view feud and Extreme Rules could just be the start of things. Cena could win via disqualification in the PPV and the two could then go on to have a much bigger match elsewhere.

#2 Daniel Bryan vs. Bad News Barrett (Intercontinental Championship)

Daniel Bryan’s victory at WrestleMania will be thoroughly celebrated by the Internet fan community. He is only the fourth grand slam champion in WWE’s history and will be looking ahead to a memorable Intercontinental championship reign.

Meanwhile, Bad News Barrett will have a rematch clause to evoke. He was projected as a very strong contender during the ladder match at Mania as he was showing a lot of desperation to keep hold of his gold. That did not happen but Barrett still has a lot of momentum than the other superstars who participated in the match.

Bryan and Barrett are capable of giving out a solid match and Extreme Rules sets the stage perfectly for proving the same.

#1 Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns (WWE Championship)

Even if all the above mentioned matches don’t happen, this is a match that SHOULD happen at Extreme Rules. All three wrestlers were strong during the WrestleMania main event and all three equally deserves a share of the WWE World Heavyweight championship even though only one could hold it.

Lesnar has a rematch clause just like Barrett does and he will be eager to use it at the earliest since he was never pinned during the match. Reigns will also have a case to argue as Rollins simply pulled off a con on him. Rollins will be the target here and he should prove his mettle as a WWE champion.

It is the recipe for a perfect triple threat match and WWE should book this match at all costs.
